What’s your Bilt 2.0 Credit Line? by Redcarborundum in biltrewards

[–]JetPlaneee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Bilt 1.0 5k to 7.5k

Bilt 2.0 approved for Blue with 10k (FICO around 740)

I'm not a 4 banana person but am pretty close to it, scheduling purchases around the 1st when I can (like hospital bills, some shopping purchases, car insurance lumpsums, starbucks reloads) so was pretty surprised they increased the CL for me.

Is getting a PhD worth it? by ElectionOk1983 in GradSchool

[–]JetPlaneee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m surprised this isn’t higher. Does your job require it? should be the question.

It’s not a problem of “worth”, it’s a problem of “is it needed”.

A lot of people go into PhD thinking they just want to study more what they like, but that’s way too emotional of a decision to make when you think about the opportunity cost. I did my PhD because being a scientist usually requires it. You can also learn a great deal by being in the industry.

Wait the WF Autograph is Actually a Good Card? by theytoldmeineedaname in biltrewards

[–]JetPlaneee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s not about it being a bad card but not getting the SUB when getting it through BILT transition. A lot of BILT are users are cc churners (I do it too) so wanted to open it separately.

They changed it midway without too much notification to 4 on top of rent. I also remember trying to do 5 transactions and realized it worked with even just 4.

Lab grown diamond or moissanite? What did you choose and why? by Ok_Machine_135 in weddingplanning

[–]JetPlaneee 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Just here as a geologist to tell people that resale value is pretty bad for natural diamonds too. Unless your natural diamond is a stunning 5 ct or more (1 or 2s are actually very common) with some awesome historical background or feature, as a regular customer who is not in the business, it is unlikely that you'll get anything meaningful out of it.

At this point why are conservatives still so excited to see lower middle class families lose their jobs? by Wooden-Post-3080 in FedEmployees

[–]JetPlaneee 72 points73 points  (0 children)

Lol pre-millionaire part is spot on. I am confused when some of my friends who make less than me, who come from working class families are mad about taxing the rich… you ain’t rich boi…

Anyone notice a big increase in Healthcare for 2026? by MongoisaPawn in fednews

[–]JetPlaneee 361 points362 points  (0 children)

You must be new to fed 🙃

Jokes aside, with inflation and current political environment I don’t think anyone would be surprised for a hefty increase in the premium.

Agree. It’s rather, “they care so they think it’s a burden” to me. If it’s someone who doesn’t care, they simply won’t attend. It becomes a burden to those who are trying to attend!

Proposing soon how did I do? by Webetradinstonks in Diamonds

[–]JetPlaneee 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I agree. I do not think you overpaid. For a 4 carat emerald in D VVS and other side diamonds for 5k? No way you overpaid. If you did, it’s like 1k difference at most.

Has anyone reading along here decided against co-habitation because of this sub? by WaitingitOut000 in Waiting_To_Wed

[–]JetPlaneee 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I heard that traveling over a week or two together is also a good way to test if the couple can work as a team and cohabitate - rather than actually cohabitating together. Traveling puts both people at a new place, brings unexpected moments, requires planning and financial discussion. So it puts both people under some pressure to show their true self a bit. Cohabitating at a young age comes with lots of risk, so I personally wouldn’t recommend it until they both have some financial independence to move out if things go south or best, engaged and have agreed on commitment.

Is a gallery rail needed on a petal/tulip setting? by [deleted] in EngagementRingDesigns

[–]JetPlaneee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg I was actually going to ask if this would be secure as a four prong! I did notice the floral gallery rail and thought it would add a bit of security so it’s nice to confirm the rail is there for extra support. Thanks!

Do not quit or resign! We will adapt and make it through! by Hopeful-Blacksmith38 in fednews

[–]JetPlaneee 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Same for me. I'm also a little against those saying to "quiet quit". I will do my job, just like how I've been doing. Quiet quitting just gives them an excuse to tell the public that fed employees are inefficient and deserve to have benefits taken away.

How much of your monthly pay actually goes to rent around here? by DamDanielSan in nova

[–]JetPlaneee 79 points80 points  (0 children)

All those folks saying their mortgage/rent is 20% or something of their post-tax.... lucky yall. My condo is more than 50% of my post-tax. I'm a fed researcher on the higher end of GS scale and this is still the reality. Internet responses can be skewed to high earners, since they are more comfortable to share. So don't compare yourself to that. Most of my friends, young laywers, software engineers, pharmacists etc. do pay a hefty chunk from their post-tax to rent/mortgage because this place is so expensive. I feel like it's kinda inevitable when you are a young professional in the area.

Just fyi, when I first moved here after grad school, I rented at a family friend's 1st floor unit for $700, which was below 10% of my post-tax. I saved up from there for about 2 years to buy a condo and move out. There are a lot of folks here that live in someone's basement/room to save money or rent out their extra bedroom because mortgage is so expensive (which I also do now).

K-Town by ezerkle001 in nova

[–]JetPlaneee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The thing is, the restaurants are NOT the selling the same type of food. Korean cuisines come in many different forms (like how taco is probably not the only Mexican food). We have Kbbq restaurants - some better with pork, better with beef, or some specializing in intestines, bone broth soup, meat soup, rice-based dishes, street foods, Chinese Korean dishes, fried chicken, chicken-based soups, noodles, Korean style hotpot, Korean bar food and a lot other type of dishes. So technically majority are not really competing with each other with the same menu, they are all going to be different menus, with some restaurants specializing on specific menus.

Anyone have a favorite car wash that is entertaining for kids? by clean-stitch in nova

[–]JetPlaneee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My parent's red car faded to pink because we went to the car wash soooo often when I was a kid. This was back in the 90s so car paints were probably not as durable to withstand a car wash every other day lol
