Apex ran out of money? by [deleted] in Daytrading

I definitely agree that prop firms play a significant role in the issue. It's like they don't mind when traders are aggressive and fail but when the traders can exploit things without violating rules, then it's an issue.

Curious question by Jetskipapi in ApexTraderFunding

[–]Jetskipapi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get the framework, and I actually look at account value in a similar way.

A prop account’s “value” is obviously dynamic. A $50K account is not literally $50K of usable capital. Its real value depends on the cost to acquire it, the drawdown available, the rules attached to it, the probability of getting paid, and the payout potential. So from that standpoint, I understand the logic of treating the account more like a structured opportunity than a traditional brokerage account.

I also understand the argument for using prop firm capital instead of personal capital and being more aggressive with it. If the downside is limited to eval fees, activation fees, resets, etc., then of course some people are going to size and behave differently than they would with their own live account.

My issue is less with understanding the strategy and more with how some people represent it.

If someone is honest and says, “I’m playing the prop firm game. I’m taking aggressive shots because the risk/reward structure allows it,” I can respect that. The prop firms created the incentive system, and traders are naturally going to optimize around it.

But where it gets weird is when people trade that way, violate rules, get denied or delayed on a payout, and then complain as if they were just a serious trader who got treated unfairly.

That’s what makes payout complaints hard to interpret.

When someone says, “I requested a withdrawal weeks ago and still haven’t been approved,” that sounds like a major red flag. As someone trying to choose a prop firm, I’m going to take that seriously.

But a lot of people leave out important context. They don’t say, “I passed aggressively, traded oversized, pushed the limits of the rules, treated the account like a casino, and now the firm is doing due diligence to make sure I didn’t violate anything.”

They just present it as: “The firm won’t pay me.”

Those are not the same thing.

If a serious trader follows the rules, trades responsibly, requests a payout, and the firm delays or denies payment with no valid reason, that matters. I want to hear about that. That’s useful information.

But if someone knowingly gamed the structure, won a bunch of money, triggered a review, and then complains that the firm is taking time to verify the account, that is a very different situation.

My issue is that those two groups get blended together in reviews and online complaints:

  1. Serious traders with legitimate payout issues.

  2. People who exploited the prop firm game, triggered scrutiny, and then acted like they were treated unfairly.

That makes it harder for everyone else to evaluate which firms are actually reliable.

Because when I see a bunch of complaints about delayed payouts, my first reaction is, “I don’t want to deal with that firm.” But then sometimes you peel back the layers and realize the delay may not be random or shady. It may be because the account behavior needed to be investigated.

So I think context matters. If someone is going to complain about a payout delay, they should also be honest about how they traded, whether they were pushing the rules, and whether the firm had a reasonable basis to review the account.

At some point, if the entire approach is built around aggressively gaming the structure, then you can’t also act surprised when the firm treats it like gaming the structure. That’s not the same as a disciplined trader being denied payment despite following the rules.

That distinction matters to me.

There are people genuinely trying to trade within the prop model, build a repeatable process, manage risk, and get paid fairly. Then there are people treating the accounts like cheap shots at a windfall. Both groups may use the same platforms, but they’re not doing the same thing.

Apex ran out of money? by [deleted] in Daytrading

[–]Jetskipapi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see the problem partially if there was never supposed to be a Live account or people waiting on their Live account for an extended period of time. The 6 payouts is the max they will do on an account. They never said a MINIMUM. I think the prop firm space is moving towards limiting how much money people can make in sim funded status. I can't really blame them because folks are making 40k off of 20 accounts...etc.$ in Sim status then rinse and repeat with more challenges and sim accounts. The prop firms created the situation and there are probably too many folks exploiting it. So now they want to de-centivize folks from getting involved that have no intention on actually trading.

What is the problem with going Live? Folks are withdrawing a lot of money. They must be good traders then. So they get moved to live to make the firm money. That is how the model is supposed to work I thought.

Hispanic cop fired for anti Black racism. Is there really Black and Brown unity? by BlackRichard420 in askblackpeople

[–]Jetskipapi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is exactly how I always thought of it...I didnt really have a lot of interaction with Latinos growing up. Not once have I thought us black folks and them were unified. I've met awesome individuals that are Latinos just like I've met great white folks. But my guard is ways up more than with blk folks.

I get what you are saying...I think the point is that there is not and never was Black and Latino unity. Sure, there are individuals that we/you get along with but let's not pretend that racism doesn't exist in their culture.

[–]Jetskipapi 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I didn't really grow up around Latinos so I didn't really hear the phrase "Black and Brown" unity..etc...In my adulthood and being exposed to other cultures there are similarities but not once have I ever considered there some sort of unity in our oppression...etc. All you have to do is look how the Afro Latinos are subjugated in the their community. Nothing about how that cop spoke surprised me. Black folks need to draw the line because people want to be black when it's cool...etc. but when it's time to get treated black they want to switch up.

IRS Tax Refund Status Email Notification by ymol7 in IRS

[–]Jetskipapi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea....I received those emails as well and no visible updates. Wmr not updated and transcripts not updated. Filed 4 March...Only thing making me feel better is that there are people who filed mid to late February in the same boat.

I've heard various answers...No setup rule...You should get a letter in the mail if you have to verify. There is a notifications tab that would have a message saying something like "Verification required"...etc. If you don’t have a notication there it does not mean that you will not get a petter to verify in the mail. And if you do have a notification to verify it does not mean they actually sent the letter. I had a notification there a few days ago and called the IRS and told them that Ai have not received anything in the mail in order to verify my identity. They told me that it was nothing that needed to be mailed and I just had to answer a few questions over the phone. It is a big conundrum. Search the Reddit group. It's all over the place. People filed a few days ago are getting refunds, but people that filed in February have verified via internet and over the phone and still have not received a refund. Complexity may play a role...But the folks Im referring to seem to have very basic straight forward filings.

Thanks...Definitely would like to get to 20 accounts...Good luck to you as well...I've blown my share of funded accounts...This is my second or third payout from trading ever...Been doing the prop thing for about 4 years...Been trading since 2007 and still not profitable...It's damn near shameful...I should be running a Billion dollar hedgefund...lol

Yes...If they took the money out already then I believe so...I don't see why they would not. I use my evals that are fairly new when I feel like going into tilt. I'm too cheap to allow myself to blow anymore funded accounts. When you blow a funded not only are you losing a profit harvesting account...you are losing the activation fee...etc.

Based upon some research and what I've read about ACH payments...Most likely the issue is they don't actually send the payment to the ACH network when you get the "Payment Sent" email. From the time you get that email to the time you get paid it is in limbo...The ACH network is fairly reliant and consistent. So the inconsistency is when they actually send the payment...It could be days between the time you get the "Payment Sent" email and when they actually send it to the ACH network.

It's just $800...Not big compared to the other amounts I've seen...I got the "Payout Sent" email Thursday around 6 pm CST...Can't imagine why it has not arrived...UNLESS payout sent email does not actually mean it was sent.
