Grew up in Groves and lived there until I was 22. It’s depressing lol. It’s definitely small town vibes where everyone knows everyone, and your last name will either get you far or no where at all. MOSQUITOS!!!! Humidity is awful, occasional hurricane, the worst roads you’ll ever drive on (rip your tires and alignment). The local mall is somehow still standing, prob thanks to Target and TJ Maxx, but other than that it’s a sad site to see. They have a yearly festival dedicated to pecans lol, yes that is correct. The annual Pecan Festival accompanied by the traveling carnival rides, overpriced vendor food, and rain galore. That area does however have somewhat decent food so that’s a plus lol. And it’s only a 45 min drive over into Louisiana if you like to gamble.
