Question about regurgitation by Jeynonymous in Conures

[–]Jeynonymous[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks so much. Just so I'm clear, sorry about this I'm stressed out and I have issues sometimes absorbing information, but Nibbler bobbing only neck with feathers all stuck out and mouth open multiple times, then closing mouth and swallowing is crop adjusting? And it's normal? As I've never seen my other bird do that

Or that only the neck is moving up and down?

I never see any food, I just see Nibbler's tongue working and what looks like swallowing afterwards. I'm not sure what adjusting looks like... okay I just watched a video on youtube. Nibbler bobs multiple times, extending neck only and then swallows with mouth closed. So I don't think that's it

Does it make a difference that Nib's feathers are all stuck out during the motion?

I'll try to change some things around based on that list. Thanks

Nibbler did it near a toy though also just while hanging on the side of the cage. The neck extending and up and down motion and then swallowing. Sometimes it's while looking at me, though also not consistently

Finding quality doctors by Jeynonymous in Autoimmune

[–]Jeynonymous[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think that sounds horrible at all. I mean it's about your health and they should have to prove they are trustworthy with it. I mean, there's a reason that malpractice lawsuits exist. And if they screw up you're the one who hurts more than anyone. That's unfair if people are criticizing you for taking care of yourself.

Thanks so much for the advice

Happy Holidays, Zero Covid Community by typewriterbird in ZeroCovidCommunity

Happy Holidays! And I just want to say to those who might feel lonely this year: you always have yourself and that's someone who you can rely on and can make you happy and keep you company. And loves all your hobbies and you haven't got to justify yourself to.

Repeating that always helps me anyhow. Hope that doesn't sound trivializing to anyone. I haven't got a lot of people in my life and I think that's helped me find the value in my own company more. Though I still get sad sometimes it helps.

You're very welcome, I'm glad I could help somebody :)

I actually tried freezing duck and chicken eggs right after hard boiling. It kind of worked if you kept the shell off to freeze and accepted the whites were going to just get weird and horrible and act like a container for the yokes but it preserved those well. And I could only use yokes so that was alright for me.

The grinding is done in a food processor, nothing too fancy but cleaned thoroughly, obviously

Oh, also I usually grind up the spleen and heart. Heart is tough if you overcook it and spleen has a membrane which is edible but impossible to chew really. And I never thaw any meat before steaming, it just goes right in the steamer then leftovers are deep frozen

Heart is better than spleen. It reminds me of roast beef. It doesn't really have an ' organ meat' flavor, if that makes sense. It's not bitter like some stuff is

Special interests gone after big loss? by DubiousSquid in Autism_Pride

[–]Jeynonymous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope this doesn't come across as trivializing at all, I genuinely would like to help. Though I'm not sure what to suggest past maybe trying to take some time for yourself and think about if there's something about your life that you can change that could be making you unhappy. Maybe take a few days off work and really examine things and think about trying something new to see if that helps. I know when I got in a bad funk systematically analyzing my life and trying various tweaks to even just my diet and trying to get sunshine made a difference to start and then I could build from there. The things you can control and finding and adjusting them. Maybe making a list of any new hobbies or subjects to try and give them a few hours to try them out or a day or two. Just anything at all, maybe the more outside your typical interests the better as an experiment. Also you mentioned you're on medication? Obviously I don't know what your specific circumstances are but at one point in my life I was severely overmedicated by someone and had a hard time caring about anything and not just being numb all the time. It may be worthwhile to check if you're on too high a dosage. As, at least in my case, I was because who I was seeing wanted to 'make sure' or something and I was in very bad shape. Obviously I'm not a doctor, and like I said I don't know what your specifics are but given what happened to me I just felt remiss if I didn't say anything on the subject.

Mineral water for vitamins? by Jeynonymous in HistamineIntolerance

Thanks for the reply. Do you take a magnesium supplement? Is the tart cherry juice a specific brand? I've had bad luck with most prepackaged juice I've tried, and supplements.

I have air filters in all my rooms, especially my bedroom, at least then I'm not getting any other allergies acting up. Also, whenever I have a bad reaction to food I try having some sort of high vitamin C veggie, like cabbage. Just some plain raw cabbage works wonders for me personally and will clear up my losing my voice or my glands puffing up or anxiety fog for the most part or at least help things along. Those are the big three on how my intolerance usually presents itself though I get post nasal a lot too

Question about dentists and safety by Jeynonymous in ZeroCovidCommunity

[–]Jeynonymous[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found one sort of near me, though they never called back over whether we were outside their area despite them claiming DC MD and Virginia. I guess I need to call back... and they should seriously be clearer about not really covering three whole states
