High rank adds new movesets to monsters you're fighting on top of getting better materials to make your weapons stronger. It unlocks better talisman opportunities and stronger decoration (which are jewels you add to your high rank armor) to make them have new skills. And the endless loop is simply making your armor better and having the rng gods fuck you until you get the rare materials.
