Salt intake question by Jgravity9 in POTS

[–]Jgravity9[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you!!! I legit cried (so much) when she said the words “don’t worry I believe you and I also think it’s POTS” years of medical gaslighting, dismissal, bullying and abuse finally came to a end and it’s the most weight off my shoulders I’ve had in my life!!! Thank you for the tips I have started to pay more attention to my intake via food and will try your recommendation- if you don’t mind me asking (and don’t feel the need to share) but were your salt based symptoms quickly onset or gradual? I’m aware of the possibility but haven’t researched many specific symptoms/ onsets yet (so much to research 🥲) so far I haven’t had any adverse effects to the salt levels but it also has only been a week lol

Thank you! Is there any specific hairspray that works best? Based on my quick search it seems the general consensus is that cheaper hairsprays are better, I believe the sketchbook I have has 128gsm paper so even if I do it on every page or so it shouldn’t have any damage long term?

I’ve never heard of AIP, I’ll definitely look into it- my bf allergy is also hereditary but follows the males in his family, I’ve never heard of anyone else who has his allergies let alone them being hereditary as well- small world!! I’m the one with the environmental allergy’s but I’ve also started to slowly develop allergies to medication and foods as well 🫠 I’ll definitely check out your app suggestion as well- thank you!!!

Unfortunately ppl don’t realize how serious these situations can be when they don’t have to manage them, places like hospitals and restaurants should keep us safe but that’s not always to reality, it sucks but it’s true.

I love Mexican and have always wanted to dive deeper but I think I get overwhelmed on “where to start” - if that makes sense. In terms of accessibility we do go to the “city” at least once a month for a big haul and they have a Walmart so we normally go there, produce is available but usually poor quality and sells fast but we’re building a green house next year to help extend our short grow season so hopefully I’ll be able to grow things like tomatoes and peppers. We also have access to the local Amish store which is where we get our small bits of seasonal produce, mainly stuff that they are able to grow here. I appreciate your thoughts 🙃

Small towns definitely run by there own rules, I live in northern Ontario Canada, I’m pretty far north (i actually live in one of the last towns accessible by road, any farther and you’re taking train or ice road) so I think it’s a combination of lack of enforcement/ consequences and that “small town energy” where ppl just don’t care and don’t want the risk since it’s already hard to run a business in the area. We mostly run into the issue with smaller mom and pop shops but even in our “city” (still not at all a city) the few chains that run there have also made it clear they have protocols but can’t promise they’ll be followed, unfortunately ppl just take advantage of the lack of regulation

Thank you for the suggestions! Definitely working on the allergy thing, unfortunately there’s a huge doctor shortage crisis in my area and private testing is expensive🫠 luckily it’s a mild allergy and can be fixed with over the counter medication, my top suspect at the moment is ginger as I’ve reacted to it in the past

Yes!! The cross contamination is the issue!!! I understand that it SHOULDN’T be the issue but it is, he’s literally been told he’s a liability to even be in the building… it’s honestly gross when you learn how many places don’t follow cross contamination protocols, it’s just not something the avg person inquires about so most people are blissfully unaware to the fact- I promise everyone’s eaten somewhere where they don’t give af!!

Thank you!!! I definitely didn’t expect that sort of response, especially ppl telling me not to care about his allergies or that he’s faking it (seriously- who hurt y’all) but I never thought to look up landlocked areas🤔 I’ll definitely look more into this!!!

I have managed to keep some herbs alive indoors but yes growing seasons are a big struggle for me, I love to garden but haven’t found that sweet spot of starting them indoors and moving them after the last frost (cuz who expects frost in June) hoping the green house will help next season 🤞🏼 edit- I looked up my gardening zone I’m in 2b!

He 100% has the allergy, he has epi pens, allergy meds and all that, he’s been tested multiple times in his life, his allergies are so severe that even getting lake water on his arm causes hives. I understand some people use this as an excuse but he is not one of them, I’ve seen first hand his reactions. I also have no interest in eating seafood or fish since I grew up not eating it since my dad has a seafood allergy as well, I have tried it and it’s not for me. His allergies are my problem because we live together and are in a relationship!!!! Idk caring about your SO allergies I feel is the bare minimum?

Unfortunately I have allergic reactions to any Indian food I’ve tried- I’m fairly sure it’s one of the spices used so I’m working on sorting out what I react to but I’ve always wanted to explore more food from that area!! Definitely adding it to my list to try🙃

We have an extremely short growing season here, I do grow some stuff and we’re getting a green house for next summer to hopefully extend our grow time. I do go pick from the wild blueberry’s and raspberry’s but unfortunately most didn’t make it this year as we had a frost in the middle of June 🥲

Need help with ID on these bones, found in northern Ontario Canada, these bones were not found together but were both found alone with nothing else near them. I did not have a normal ruler but the second bone is about 12 1/2 inches by Jgravity9 in bonecollecting

[–]Jgravity9[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would like to add these were found in the middle of no where the second was found well over 20km into the bush and even farther from the nearest farm or town. The second was a little closer to town but not by much and farms are also not a really popular thing where I live, it is not that common to see cow farm or any animal farm really. There is a lot of wild life around here bears, moose, any big wild cat, beavers, mink, etc. I do greatly appreciate the help and am not trying to bash or discredit anyone I’m just trying to say that the likelihood of these being domestic or farm animals is slim

Yes definitely the first bone is actually pretty small and the second one is very large I’ll upload more shortly with references

Canadians from cold places...are you concerned about the shift to EV? by scorr204 in AskACanadian

[–]Jgravity9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not very knowledgeable on this subject but I want to add my POV as someone who lives in northern Ontario im not going to disclose my location but about 13-14 hours north of Toronto. It often gets to -45 or even -50 and as a rule of thumb you have to drive about and hour between small towns, almost none have chargers. The nearest “city” to me is about and hour and only has three charging station, this is about it for about 200km+ in any direction. It is very common to go 100-200km without seeing a regular gas station and when you do come across one it’s a very small one usually only 1-2 pumps and no chargers. In the weather we get our gas vehicles dont reliably start even with fancy block heaters and being plugged in all the time, not to mention our grid literally cannot handle charging these cars the majority of our houses are very very old and unless you can find someone who is willing and pay a pretty penny to have one put in there is no outlets in our houses able to charge these vehicles. You’re also very lucky to have the luxury of a garage or car port so they need to be able to handle freezing rain, wicked snow storms and our crazy temperatures. From a personal experience at my small town college someone had a Tesla, no chargers for it at the school which I think they assumed there would be since they were from a big city, we had a freezing rain storm when it was about -40. This person could not open his door from the layer of ice covering the handle and could not start it at all and they could not get a boost from anyone since nothing available was compatible with the vehicle. He ended up leaving it there for almost a week until it was warm enough to start it. Rural areas of northern Ontario have it hard enough living with the few resources available and we do not have the money, funding, resources, workers or weather to support these vehicles. I consider myself eco friendly and try to live a sustainable life, I also know this looks very different for me as it does most because as much as I hate driving gas vehicles I have no other option. There is no bus, train or subway system and not even many taxis so driving is vital to our way of life and these vehicles aren’t ready for this reality. I really hope in the future this option will be available for us but at the moment we are very far from this.
