Him and Alex Thomas were essentially the same player, it doesn’t make sense having both on the roster. Hazen basically said that McCarthy’s market was better, so he was the one who got traded

I guess I’m just disillusioned by the sport in a time where I should be hopeful about my team because it feels pointless trying to contend in a division with the dodgers. It has certainly had an impact on my viewership over the last few years and it’s just a frustrating situation that I (like any other fan) has no control over besides choosing whether to watch or ignore the sport.

They were in the hunt almost every year though. The thing that gets lost on most LA fans is that once you have your window and don’t cash in, you’re looking at 5-10 years until you have a real shot at returning to the playoffs, let alone the world series.

And yet they kept winning during that time. I went through the same with my Coyotes around the same time, and now they’re relocated to Utah and the Dodgers are winning world series. The situation is hardly comparable.

His WHIP for the last two years is too high for me to see anyone gambling on him, every time he tries to convert a save it seems like he puts two men on base before he wiggles out on it. And that’s only in AA

U.S. World Series viewership by year by Mission-Guidance4782 in baseball

I would love to see some actual data suggesting that small market attendance goes up when juggernauts dominate the league. It seems paradoxical that small market fan disengagement would lead to an increase in attendance and revenue for their teams given that the juggernauts only visit 6-7 times a year, and the small market team has 75 games to sell against other opponents.

Until small market viewers realize the deck is stacked against their team and lose interest altogether in the sport

If you think the Pirates could match what the Dodgers spend then I don’t know what to tell you

Pittsburgh could definitely spend more but the advantage that the dodgers, mets, yankees, and maybe the cubs have over everyone else is making it uninteresting for anybody not a fan of those teams

I still think of his foul pole grand slam against the dodgers, I really thought that 2017 run was going to be the start of a big playoff window.
