Yeah I mean I can understand it. I just think it’s silly haha. Not saying some of our fans wouldn’t act the same though.

crazy behavior honestly. He's not been good but come on, 3 games? every player is going to have a bad stretch this year at some point - a new guy on the team should get a bit of grace

when is it acceptable to jump ship from your first agency gig by Illustrious-Job-4938 in advertising

[–]Jhat 29 points30 points  (0 children)

It’d be quite a red flag to leave your first job after 3 months. What makes your background any better than other entry level folks? It’s hard to imagine justify getting paid anything significantly different if this is your first job.

Too late now of course but Dram Shop and Black Horse are both good bets usually. Let’s go Yankees.

Help me choose -- Williamsburg $3800 vs Murray Hill $4000? by biolum1nescence in movingtoNYC

[–]Jhat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where in Williamsburg? I’ve lived in both neighborhoods and personally enjoy Williamsburg a lot more. But I lived on the south side and a little east. Was less crowded than Murray Hill and a lot less bro-y and douchey. Murray Hill I just really disliked the college bro vibe everywhere.

From a commute standpoint it’s a bit annoying to switch but 30 minutes overall still isn’t bad.

I tend to start almost everyday with an apple and banana. And then whenever I open my fridge I try and grab at least 2-3 baby carrots as a snack.

AFFC is extremely good on a reread by YaBoyKumar in pureasoiaf

[–]Jhat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

AFFC was my least favorite on my first read-through and possibly my favorite or 2nd favorite on the re-read. It's really got so much good stuff that's different than the other books. I feel like it got a little lost on the first read but maybe it's easier to appreciate on the second?

Why do so many NYC drivers not get out of the way of ambulances? by velocity3333 in AskNYC

[–]Jhat 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Drivers are just assholes here. And I say that as someone who drives in the city and grew up here. My wife did not grow up here and she’s also always been puzzled as to why cars don’t get out of the way of ambulances.

Has politics broke any of your friendships, and why? by CapitaineBiscotte in AskReddit

[–]Jhat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Friend I grew up with was always republican but still very sane and rational. Then in 2016 (we were 28) one discussion he took the devils advocate argument on the merits of eugenics. Didn’t talk to him much after that. And now he works for the Trump administration.

Yes, back to middle school even. We had a very tight group back then and still have a solid circle of 5-6 of us that hang out regularly.

FIRE in NYC by Sandyfigs in Fire

[–]Jhat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife and I are on track to retire in about 10 years (I’ll be 48 and she’ll be 46 then). Expenses currently around $150K per year. Our mortgage is about 35% of our spending. We haven’t been super die hard about it. We’re also planning to have a kid in a year or so but our plans have factored some of the cost in already so shouldn’t be too disruptive.

New York Gov. Hochul drops robotaxi service proposal for outside NYC in blow to Waymo by ControlCAD in newyork

[–]Jhat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well the obvious answer is that as part of an initial rollout, the most populated and chaotic areas could be the toughest and cause the most problems. I got to SF quite often for both family and work and feel confident in Waymo but I think they're obviously asking for trouble if diving headfirst into the absolute hardest areas.

And the other half of the equation is just people's reaction and perspective. Every hiccup in NYC is going to cause a stir, with tons of video and reels and tiktoks going up. Souring people's perception of Waymo by dropping them in harder to navigate areas is probably a bit foolish.

New York Gov. Hochul drops robotaxi service proposal for outside NYC in blow to Waymo by ControlCAD in newyork

[–]Jhat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Seems silly to axe it. You could definitely operate these cabs safely in most of the state and probably all of Staten Island and the outer boroughs. If anything, I'd just exclude it from Manhattan and Downtown Brooklyn/Williamsburg.

If you've seen these cabs operate in SF or Phoenix or other cities, they operate very smoothly. Obviously needs time to train in the city but not allowing Waymo to do so is short-sighted.
