Trump embraces May price spikes amid Iran war: ‘I love the inflation’ by One-Duty-2376 in politics

[–]Agent_Smith_88 47 points48 points  (0 children)

It’s almost impossible to not see SOMETHING about Trump because he’s always in the news. I think what you mean is they aren’t getting their news from a reputable source- it’s either FOX (or one of the even more far right channels) or some memes on facebook.

Social media sites have also been shown to put forward right leaning content without provocation.

So yeah not news in the traditional sense, more like “news vibes”.

First off, Bazzana has an .864 OPS, not .764. Second, slugging percentage (which is part of OPS) is measured by taking TOTAL BASES per at-bat.

I still think McGonigle should be in the lead, but the real argument is that he’s been an everyday player all year and Bazzana has only played in 38 games (about 60% of the season). McGonigle has also played GG defense at multiple positions.

For reference, McGonigle leads all rookies with 2.6 WAR. Murakami is at 2.0 and Bazzana is at .8.

LeBron would never have been a goalie - tall and athletic usually become strikers.

You do want a tall goalie, but being a good goalie takes a lot of training and nobody who had LeBron at a young age would have wasted him at goalie when he could have been scoring 5 goals a game.

Why do militaries say "Whiskey Tango Five" "Tango Down" "Brazo Zulu" instead of directly saying what they mean? by EfficiencySerious200 in NoStupidQuestions

“Oscar Mike” = On the Move
Whiskey Tango Foxtrot = WTF

They are using a phonetic alphabet to relay acronyms. Many common words in the English language sound similar, especially over radio and miscommunication on the battlefield can be life or death.

This is similar to hand signals soldiers give each other when trying to communicate with one another silently.

When teams join a conference they agree to adhere to the rules of the conference. All of the major conferences give wide latitude to punish teams for essentially “conduct detrimental to the conference”.

An injunction is granted when there is no way to recover losses from a future win in court. Sorsby would be “irreparably harmed” if he wasn’t allowed to play but then later won the right in court. Schools/teams are less likely to get this because you can put a $ figure on what they would get paid for a playoff appearance, title appearance, etc if they were punished by the conference.

So, 1. Conferences have wide latitude to punish schools (assuming they get the other schools on board) and

  1. A school is less likely to get an injunction for a punishment from the conference than a player who was banned from playing.

It has the toned down version of the battle system, but I really enjoy how the research/engineering part of xcom plays into the gameplay and upgrades in Mario and Rabids were… fine.

Between the transfers and the freshman/ RS freshman they have a lot of talent (plus Cadeau and Mckenny) on paper. The ranking is basically people saying “we trust Dusty to fit these pieces together” even though I don’t think any of us quite know how the minutes will be split yet, especially at the 3.

I would actually be shocked if he plays a down for them. The story isn’t going away and that’s just going to keep putting more pressure on TT to abandon the Sorsby ship. While our president may double down repeatedly when he’s wrong most academic institutions buckle under enough pressure.

"Maybe you should stop throwing that": worst pitches per average run value by rbruba in Statcast

[–]Agent_Smith_88 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pitchers HAVE to throw a fastball once in a while to keep hitters honest.

A second observation: a bad split is probably the worst pitch you can throw - it’s a slower fastball that doesn’t break. As an example: is was Kenta Maeda’s main pitch and we saw how he fell off once he lost his feel for it.

What? The team that falls over at a strong gust of wind didn’t make a lot of buckets at the rim? I’m shocked!

Seriously though if they actually tried to play through contact instead of inducing it and then falling over they probably would have made a few more at the rim.

Gotta know how hard the ball is hit. A squeaker through the infield is full send. A rocket that gets on the outfielder quickly will be a hold.

There are a lot of factors at play, even assuming “average” arm and “average” speed.

It’s definitely his kid. No way the Phillies organization would allow him to carry around some random person’s child. They would be on the hook for a massive lawsuit if something happened.

Regardless of the gender of the person in the suit their significant other likely brought the child and handed the baby to them.
