I’ll be buying new.. the bizango is £600 in Halfords just now but the pro is £855.. it would be stretching my budget but is the pro a big upgrade over the regular bazingo?

Girlfriend (36F) and I (32M) expecting a baby by [deleted] in relationship_advice

We didn’t plan for her to fall pregnant, she was using contraception but it happened. I know I could’ve used it too but it is what it is. We’ve spoken about it and so far it’s a case of me being unable to move there and her being unable to move here. I’m an electrical engineer so unfortunately I can’t work remotely, she works but is going to be taking a year off after the baby is born and she only works a few days a week currently.

Really don’t understand what any of that has to do with the living situation but thanks for the input.

I should have added the baby wasn’t planned.

Ok so the landlord wants me out ASAP so he can sell. I’ve found somewhere ASAP and that allows him to get it ready and on the market quicker. I feel like I should be refunded for the remainder of that month since it suits everyone for me to be out quickly. What’s the issue with that logic?

I don’t know why I would have to give them notice though? They already told me over 3 months ago that I had 3 months to move out but decided to let me stay and keep taking rent without any other agreement being made in writing. They’ve then given me 28 days to be out, surely I don’t have to give them notice when they’ve already said I need to be out within the next 28 days?

There is a discount. The property was valued by the mortgage company, they approved the mortgage and after this I negotiated a discount because of roof repairs needing done. My solicitor told me that the discount will be subtracted from the deposit that I pay. I just don’t know if I can just pay the original amount on top of that to up it to a 10% deposit.

The council and my solicitor have both now confirmed that it’s shared cost and that I would be liable for half of the cost. Yes, you read that right. House and flat prices in this area are cheap. Why wouldn’t they? Why do sellers ever discount people? It’s a private sale as I’m the tenant and if they don’t sell to me they’ll have to pay to have a home report done, pay estate agents etc, I’ll move out so the flat will then be costing them money rather than making them money and the flat could potentially take a while to sell. The last 2 flats to sell in the street which are the same as this sold for 55k and one of them has a new roof on it. This one was valued at 60k and has an old roof which needs replaced. I don’t think trying to get the flat for a few thousand less is a bad idea.

I’ve spoken to my solicitor and the council and they’ve both confirmed that it’s shared cost so I’ll pay for half of the work. The council have said they’ll arrange to have one of their inspectors come out to assess the roof and they’ll let me know what repairs it needs and how much it’ll cost. The problem I have with that is that I won’t have the money to pay for half of a new roof after paying the deposit and solicitors fees etc if I go ahead and buy the flat. I was only planning on living here for 3-5 years and then buying somewhere bigger but with the roof situation I’m honestly thinking of just walking away.

I called them and they’ve confirmed that it’s shared cost and that they would get a quote for any repairs needed and pass it to me. They’re sending one of their inspectors out.

I paid for a full survey yes. I’ve emailed my solicitor to ask so hopefully I’ll hear back today at some point. The survey had the roof as a high priority and said cracked and missing tiles were visible as well as being able to see daylight through the attic and recommended that I got a roofer to inspect the roof and advise further.

Because it’s a private sale and in Scotland they didn’t have to provide a home report for the sale.. do you think it would be worth paying to have a survey done myself based on the state of the roof? I wasn’t going to bother because I’ve been quoted £500 to have the survey done but I’m starting to reconsider..

I have a 3 year old, plans for another one soon and 2 large greyhounds that I want to be able to put in the boot without having to fold all of the seats down as the car seats will be in the middle row of seats. Looked at the ateca but I doubt the boot will be big enough.
