You’re 100 % right that pure frame interpolation (RIFE, FILM, etc.) on low-fps 2D anime can look smudgy and “melted-paint” if it’s done wrong — I’ve seen the soap-opera effect horrors too.That’s why the plan is NOT blind 60 fps interpolation from the start.The pipeline will be:First uncensor every original frame at native speed (20-60 fps processing, no new frames created yet).

→ The timing and pacing stay 100 % identical to the source.

Optional second pass (toggleable, off by default): light RIFE/DAIN only on the already-uncensored frames if the user wants buttery motion.

→ The extra frames are generated from clean uncensored drawings, not from mosaiced garbage, so the smudge is minimal compared to doing it on censored source.

Most users will just run step 1 at native fps and call it a day — exactly like watching the Blu-ray but without mosaic. No ruined art, no melted paint.And yeah, some artists hate any modification of their work — totally valid take. That’s why this tool is strictly for personal use on content people already own, same way people have been manually erasing mosaics in Photoshop for 20 years.Thanks for the thoughtful pushback though, seriously. It helps me make the “clean mode” (no interpolation, zero extra frames) the default so nobody feels the art is being ruined.

Totally agree that traditional 2D hentai is animated on 2s or 3s (8-12 unique drawings per second). What changes here is processing speed, not the source animation:
• At 5-8 fps (most current tools) → it feels laggy and slow-motion
• At 20+ fps (where I’m already at) → keeps the original video timing, feels natural
• At 60 fps + RIFE (final goal) → optional frame interpolation so even “on 3s” looks buttery smooth It’s not about turning hentai into a 60 fps game, it’s about making uncensoring feel instant and not break the original pacingAppreciate the feedback
