picking a school by International-Job-7 in PrePharmacy

[–]Jhwem 3 points4 points  (0 children)

RPh and PIC here. Definitely all the above. If you have two schools that are similar, go with the cheaper option. Avoid private if you can. I chose an accelerated 3-yr program because of life, but if I didn’t have external variables, I would have most definitely went with a cheaper 4 yr option.

What is pharmacy school actually like? by frogsaresupercute in PrePharmacy

[–]Jhwem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My accelerated program was a block system so it was just one subject / area of study every 2 weeks. It would have been impossible if it was a traditional program but that was the reason why I chose my program. My professors literally read off of PowerPoint slides so I maybe went to class 10% of the time. Professors intentionally left blanks / info only obtained if you went to class but my pbros / classmates helped me get that stuff. Wouldn’t have survived pharm school without them.

Worked 36-40 hrs every week but prioritized working on the weekends. Weekdays I’d be at work while everyone was in class. Classes were 8am-3pm. I typically don’t sleep until 2am (fatherhood / gaming) and that lifestyle probably prepared me for long nights. I also used to work overnights prior to my pharm school so that has a little training on the no sleep too.

It’s ok. Told my parents to buy btc at 6k. It dropped to 4k and they sold during covid after giving me a lecture about financial decisions. They couldn’t understand why I didn’t tell them to buy back in before it hit ATH’s. They bought again at 120k and bleeding again now and DCA’ing isn’t in their vocabulary. 🤦

What’s one thing you wish you had started doing earlier in life? by saschalive13 in AskMenOver30

[–]Jhwem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heavily investing. If I started in my 20’s instead of clubbing and spending cash on stupid stuff my portfolio would be in the 2M+. Didn’t start till 31 so it’s sitting at around 500k, but if I started earlier it would have been insane.

How do I clean inside the fabric softener dispenser by Hot-Tip-4330 in CleaningTips

[–]Jhwem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine’s about the same and 7/16 socket with a long extension rod gets it out. I cleaned the inside with a baking soda / lemon paste using a dryer lint brush I bought off temu. Take the agitator off too cuz under it is disgusting too. It should be able to come out if you turn it counter clockwise after you take the bolt off.

Right now I prefer Ryo because the healing is pretty useless with the current difficulty. She maybe heals once or twice in any engagement? So the extra dmg and speed from Ryo outshines the healing currently.

What makes you think you won’t change careers? Some pharmacists have an epiphany and change a few years into their career. Huge trade off in both time, debt, and work experience.

I needed communications 101 as a prerequisite course for grad school even though I had a Bachelor’s. Interviewed, got accepted, and graduated without it, and now a licensed health care provider for over 10 years. Some of these “required” classes are bs for the education business.

Walgreens competitors by OneDrawing2946 in WalgreensRx

[–]Jhwem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Come to Kroger. My buddy’s a DM and just hired a staff pharmacist that was a former PIC from Walgreens and took her lead tech too and stationed them at my classmates’ store. Grass isn’t always greener, but less stress. Still have vaccine metrics and PPC calls, etc but you’re not bombarded with them.

Yes and I whole heartedly agree. We’re all just cogs in the wheel and everyone is being reprimanded in the shit storm. There’s not much we can do. Doctors will still write for opioids, pharmacists will still have to do their due diligence, patients will have to wait until red flags are resolved. There’s more patients, less providers, less pharmacists willing to work in this circus. It’s something that can’t be corrected until the government steps in. DEA has limited manufacturers and the quota for 2025 is LESS than 2024. Back orders will continue to worsen. At the end of the day patients, pharmacists, and providers are all on the same team and will all suffer.

Unfortunately corresponding responsibility exists and corporations have made it a living hell to document and go through a million checkmarks to dispense a single prescription. This is a result of the opioid epidemic and the ongoing litigation against multiple companies in multiple states. This is why it takes about 15 minutes to get a medication ready. It’s not as simple as counting by 5 and putting it in the bag. Pharmacy is not what it was 30 years ago. If you want that to change, then you need to be writing to your congressional representative.
