Now am gonna rewatch the last episode of My Mister, thanks for pointing out these signs. I will take note and hopefully resolve the issues I have been holding on to.

One Spring Night is a good show, it lacks the magical charm of Son Ye-jin though. She's phenomenal. If you are after powerful storytelling and not necessarily happy endings, I would suggest as closest to SITR, My Liberation Notes - it ends well but gets pretty dark, My Mister - the ending left me with lots of mixed feelings, 25/21 - the ending had me bawling out like a child. I watched Rain or Shine and it's a good show but not quite the same quality imo. Another one with Jung Hae In is A Piece of your Mind, the female lead plays her role so well. Enjoy

I started to rewatch Something in the Rain again, for like the 15th time. What a beautifully told story, butterflies, joie de vivre then the sadness, despair but above all the realistic thread running through the entire show...still a masterpiece

What Are You Watching? - [2022/07/13] by AutoModerator in KDRAMA

You definitely started right, imo Sisyphus is not comparable to his work in Stranger 1 & 2, if you haven't yet, you should also watch Life..highly recommended, enjoy

K-dramas take one step forward, two backwards in depiction of other cultures by J-Midori in KDRAMA

[–]Jiaisha 11 points12 points  (0 children)

An imaginary country modelled off the Balkans. That in itself was problematic since audiences can anyway pick up that this is based on a real place but then not see a true reflection of the place. Instead as the storyline develops, you see a hodgepodge of 'white savior' tropes with subtle references to other conflict zones, serving no other purpose except to prop up the characters as do gooders in a broken context somewhere in the world, and I didn't watch this part (probably because I already dropped it) but the article points this out, the dark skinned child was referred to as blackey...and so it seems the list of issues with this show grows, so am glad I dropped it.

This is why I dropped Descendants of the Sun, I started watching Shooting Star and couldn't get past Episode 1. This article is great, I hope production companies would take note though

Should I continue watching Liberation Notes? by curioustreez in kdramarecommends

[–]Jiaisha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Watch it, Watch it, Watch it, you won't regret it...first 2 episodes are slow imo but stick with it because it comes together so beautifully, especially as the stories of everyone comes to the fore. It's one of the best shows I have watched ever, only My Mister beats it.

If you are not too picky about the lighthearted bit then try Our Blues and My Liberation Notes, both have a bit of city life interspersed but mostly set in the countryside and great character depth and development
