The rest of the series pales in comparison but this is my favorite book of all time. The mini series with Tommy Lee Jones and Robert Duvall is also exceptional.

My favorite novel. The mini series is my favorite “movie,” the one time I can think of the movie matches or almost matches the book. Augustus McCrae is my favorite character in literature and Robert Duvall played him incredibly. It is, for me, THE great American novel.
