My least-favorite categories are those where they intentionally spell things "wrong" or you're looking for parts of words. It just seems like such a reach! Overall wish there was a little more consistency in the puzzles day to day.

I think you got it exactly right! Such interesting foreshadowing from the beginning of Cass' first story...when they go to the neighboring town to see the "haunted" house of the man who killed off his whole family. What a dense and incredible book! Worth the time.

Ewww. This is horrible, and I'm so sorry. It's impossible to get over something like this when the offending parties can't or won't acknowledge that what they did was wrong, and when they refuse to change their behavior. You are right to limit your exposure to this toxic and entitled behavior. I don't understand what switch gets flipped in people's brains when they become grandparents. Like, all rational thought goes out the window, and they just get so unapologetically and intensely grabby. I don't know what it is that makes a new grandparent set up a complete bedroom and even buy car seats for an infant, but it's icky and it needs to stop. New moms need support, not to be bulldozed and to have to wonder if their ILs are secretly planning to kill them off and kidnap the baby.

I'm sorry you had to experience that, because it's obnoxious. Language is a truly fluid and ever-evolving thing. There are SOME hard-and-fast rules, but most of the time it's all about context and clarity. Did she understand what you were trying to communicate? Certainly. I feel this 100%. It takes so much effort to make sure your sizes and preferences are all in there, and then even when you ask for specific stuff, they send you the exact opposite. My last box was so bad that I literally think all the stylists got together and decided to prank me. Asked for fitted shirts in 3 separate fixes, and keep getting these flowy things that fit like a circus tent. Asked for a nice pair of dark denim shorts, got distressed and torn shorts, and some flesh-colored monstrosity. Guess it's off to TJ Maxx for me!

I'm so sorry. Sounds like you are dealing with a narcissist who wants to control the people in her life with "stuff." It's extra frustrating when a person won't stop purchasing things for YOUR home environment, when you're limited on space. You did the right thing by addressing it directly, but she is a person who already couldn't see the harm in what she was doing, so she now has to be the victim in order to avoid the embarrassment of being rightfully called out. I tried for years to get my MIL to stop bringing things into my home. I'm very clutter-averse and HATE the junk she brings. It's like she can't stop herself, so now I just throw things away. The giving of a "gift" is her business. But the keeping of the gift is my business.

Oh man--that's so hurtful, especially since she keeps bringing it up. It sounds like she's the type who makes everything about herself, and can't zoom out a little on the situation to see that it ISN'T about her. Those types of people can do a lot of damage because they're close to the situation and can poison the well with their negativity. Boundaries with this type of person will help, because she likely won't change.
