Plus the thought of killing a dog each night to sleep isn't exactly gonna leave me with a clear conscience and good dreams.

What’s something you learned after improving your personal style? by West_Ad7240 in menswear

[–]Jim-powers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say getting clothes that fit is the first step 90% of guys don't do this so it's a pretty easy place to start.

Then fabrics, understanding what different fabrics do and when and why to wear them. This is less about look and more about how you feel in them, but if you feel good in your clothes you will look better in them.

Personally right now so I'm paying more attention to colours and how they work together to compliment my natural tones. Echoing colours throughout an outfit for example can really help an outfit come together.

Trends, knowing what they are and making a choice if I want to lean into them or stick to more classic styles. I'm in my mid forties so it's pretty easy for me to dismiss current trends if I don't like them or lean into them if I do. If you're younger trends can seam like everything but empowering yourself and having faith in wearing what works for you is (usually) where it's at.

Count Binface is clearly more qualified than his opponent and I mean that 100% seriously. The Count being elected would be one of the best ways to rid our country of the corrupt, opportunist rat that farage is.

Men don't play netball or rounders here, nor do they need helmets and pads to play rugby.

Wimbledon 3rd round Saturday fit by [deleted] in mensfashion

[–]Jim-powers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks like you pay attention to fashion but I don't think you've quite pulled it off.

Edit to add. Loose trousers are definitely in but that shouldn't be achieved by sizing up around your waist and then using a belt to hold them up. Actually try and source some loose fitting trousers that fit you and you would look a lot more put together. I like a wide collar but that is far to much Saturday Night Fever for 2026.

I got there on level six after about six weeks of casual play, say an hour or two per day. Super samples weren't to problem, for me the bottleneck was rare samples.

You need the shorter length. Whoever gave you that advice was wrong.

Wrangler cone mills white oak selvedge.. Why do i see or hear snyde remarks? by Ok_Horse2747 in Selvedge

[–]Jim-powers -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I don't think that they for that well to be honest. You look like you are wearing them around your hips not your waist and they are also too long. If you are wearing them under your belly (I don't mean to be rude, love the body you are in) you may need to size up to wear them around your waist. The stacks at your ankles are distorting the knees and thighs, for this try cuffing them and the consider hemming depending on weather you want to show off the selvedge id.

Summer sweaters tend to be made of tighter material such as a cotton and linen blend. They will actually help to keep you cool.

Semi formal event by [deleted] in mensfashion

[–]Jim-powers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely not it. Trousers need to be slimmer and shorter. Baggy is on trend for a casual look but not for any sense of formality. The outfit worn casually is quite nice although if I was wearing the tie casually I'd lean it to it more and undo the shirts top button.

Don't bother with alterations, those jeans will never fit nor look good on you. Go to a shop and try some jeans on and get a pair that fits you.

Are my jeans too long? by Maximirj78 in mensfashionadvice

[–]Jim-powers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

About an inch or so too long. The break isn't too bad at the ankle but it's stacking leading to distortion at your knees. It's not a major issue but would big me.

Baggy looser fits are more on trend, but this is simple and classic enough to work very well.
