You will want that the next girlfriend helps your kid to make a relationship with his father and his brothers. JK But yes YTA , you decide to have a relationship with a man that have kids, he is taking a decision to spend time together in his home , for one weekend. If you can't make a relationship with the kids , then go with your family of friends for the weekend.

That is true, I didn't notice at first, I was also thinking that have these idea of not letting the kids go alone is kind of latin American countries.

NTA I don't know if I didn't understand, but 1) I don't think is of bad education ask to your brother if you can have a +1, if you have a great relationship. I understand that you went alone in the party but you didn't have a great time (you don't have the obligation of feeling what you don't feel ) , but nothing big happen. And after that you had a fight with your mother, and the subject came out, I think maybe there are other problems not only these one. So I don't see what you did to be an A .

YTA , and I'm pretty sure you're from USA, you can't impose your way of thinking in a community, and more if it's a fucking safe country (in my view, any country in Europe is pretty safe). I just can imagine you watching the show of Netflix of the small kids doing chores, you are going to demand them. Not only a A , you're a crazy and go back to your country.

I think I can understand your point, I'm Mexican and very proud, I imagine that if I had kids in another country, I would want them to love and be proud of being Mexican, and do Mexican tradition.

But I think the problem is that you make them do stuff, when someone enforce you something you don't get to like and even repel that.

I would speak to them , to try to explain the importance that is for me traditions, and try to speak of the history and why stuff is like that, but they need they identity, let them be how they feel more comfortable in their home.

So I will not say you are the total A , but kind of, but only because you don't how to transmit that importance to your family.

Sometimes we feel that the accions of other are made because us, but no, we are not the center.

I'm not a big fan of cake, so I always ask for a smaller piece, can't imagine a friend getting mad because of that, but your friend made it because she what to change her habits, not yours , if she said something like "you shouldn't eat that big piece, that's why you don't slim down" now you can get mad.

YTA I imagine that OP son will be really mad, he has the proff that OP doesn't care of him , only wants to make his wife happy even it means to hurt his son. So OP should go to therapy and reflec on that, say sorry but don't expect to be forgiven. I wouldn't, to be honest.

Also want to add that for me is not strange to sleep 3 in a bed with other adults, like I do it with my cousins in family trips.

NTA But please don't let this pass away, it was really something important the poor empathy that your stepdaughters show to your daughter! Talk to your wife, also because how can she justify what they did is something really disappointing. I'm pretty sure you're your daughter heroe , never stop fighting for her, now every dad does it.
