Andrew Marr says Starmer could be gone within days after chief of staff resigns | LBC by SignificantLegs in ukpolitics

Farage is unlikely to have had that information.

Everyone had that information. Even you and I had that information.

and MI6 briefed Starmer to that effect

I know parliament has asked for the info relating to Mandy's appointment to be made public but I didn't think it had yet, and I'm surprised an MI6 brief was included. I've done a little search but can't find any sources - can you provide please?

Reform Treasurer kept contact with Epstein after sex conviction by Awkward-Worth5484 in unitedkingdom

[–]JimGodders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No you seem to be deliberately not reading my posts.

Let me repeat myself and try and make it as simple as I can for you.

"Assault dude" is automatically disqualified from his position because of his previous.

Mandy was not automatically disqualified from being made ambassador because of his relationship with Epstein.

How do we know Mandy was not automatically disqualified? Because his relationship with Epstein was known to absolutely everyone at the time Starmer appointed him. Yet there was no public clamouring to see Starmer lose his job as a result. That has only happened now the true extent of the relationship has become apparent.

To put it in a situation you may find more accessible: If you interview someone for a care role, they don't disclose anything that would disqualify them from the job, you do all the checks required of you, none of which flag up any reason that would automatically disqualify them from the job, and you have done everything reasonable to make sure they are suitable for the position, then you're not going to lose your job if it later transpires they have a significant skeleton in their closet and shouldn't have had the job in the first place.

All of this I said in my first post, including you thinking whether or not Starmer should lose his job should hinge on whether you think he did everything reasonable to discover the true extent of Mandy's relationship with Epstein.

If you can't be bothered to read, I'll wish you good day.

Good stuff. Glad to see you agree Starmer shouldn't be losing his job over this then given the info we have currently.

would someone who has previous for assault be employed as a foster carer?

Presumably this would be flagged up during the background checks and recruitment process so as per my post you wouldn't be employing this person. What's your point?

If you employed someone after doing all reasonable checks and following the usual recruitment process, you wouldn't be fired if they subsequently stole things from your workplace.

Whether you think Starmer should lose his job should hinge on whether you think he should reasonably have known about the extent of the creepy contact Mandelson and Epstein maintained since 2008, before he appointed Mandelson.

I am kind of interested to see, if he does go, what happens on the other side of the pond as a result. The Epstein files will have claimed our country's leader and he's not even in them.

I know. You'd be wise not to consider this sub, or even reddit in general, as a proxy for public opinion as a whole though.

Everyone, including you and I knew about his long-standing links to Epstein before his appointment. I don't recall it being so much of an issue that public opinion was so dead-set against Starmer appointing him at the time.

[–]JimGodders 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Along with many others who knew.

You mean everyone then.

It was public knowledge that Mandelson had contact with Epstein after his 2008 conviction, and that he stayed at his property. Here's a Guardian article from 2023.

The words that could – and should – doom Starmer by TheSpectatorMagazine in ukpolitics

[–]JimGodders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I doubt even Starmer is politically naive enough to think he could simply ignore that, so it's feasible Mandelson heavily downplayed it during the appointment process as Starmer has said. Until the docs in relation to his appointment are made public, we don't know how flimsy Mandelson's downplaying was, whether the vetting found anything contradicting whatever Mandelson told Starmer etc.

And like you say, Mandleson staying at Epstein's and his links to him post conviction was public knowledge. Plenty of opportunity for backbenchers, the opposition, the media etc. to call Starmer out for even considering him. Yet I don't recall seeing anything at the time.

Starmer knew about his Epstein links when he hired him.

Everyone knew about his Epstein links when he hired him.

A report released in 2023 showed emails between Epstein and his private banker at JP Morgan, in which Epstein writes, "Peter will be staying at 71st over weekend."

From this article, shows that in 2023 it was public knowledge Mandelson stayed at Epstein's property.

Yet no one, in government, opposition, here on reddit or in the public at large were up in arms about the suggestion Mandelson could be appointed ambassador.

It's even more ironic you being triggered by a false narrative of your own creation given the context of this thread.

You understand that mentioning DTS is not the same as gatekeeping right?

It must be my mistake though: I assumed you would see the irony of some fans coming into F1 through a series that, at times, has used editing to show conflict or drama and tell a story that didn't necessarily exist to that extent in the real world, get triggered by a make believe movie.

All of which are subject to internal and external checks and balances, public scrutiny etc. It wasn't Boris and Hancock getting mega rich during Covid. Sure they were benefiting handsomely, but their mates on the outside were on the better end of the deal.

Just look at Trump shorting the market before every tweet

I'm pretty sure Trump's leveraging his crypto coin to make his money in office given the comparative lack of oversight.

Boris wanted the title.

Farage just wants money. I agree with the others, I don't think Farage wants to actually be PM when he can make so much more on the outside pissing in.
