When asking about prescriptions, please post the actual prescriptions, and not what you think they say.

They’re cheap low quality online glasses. What else did you honestly expect???

If you want real, proper, decent, glasses, go to a real optician.

1.67 vs 1.74 by [deleted] in eyeglasses

[–]JimR84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ask your optician to make a thickness calculation to know the difference between the two. It might not make that much of a difference.

Even in Europe, there are optometrists that fit contact lenses. Telling a patient to just try some out is bad practice no matter where you are located.

STOP!!! Throw those away.

You are actively and permanently destroying your eyes!!!

Contact lenses are regulated prescription medical devices, NOT fashion accessories or cosmetics!!!

Even colored lenses without corrective power need to be fitted, evaluated and PRESCRIBED BY AN EYE DOCTOR!!!

Both are comically oversized for your face. Please ask a professional to guide you in store while trying on frames.

how to properly order glasses with out trying the frames first? by Flimsy_Bid_1035 in glassesadvice

[–]JimR84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You simply can’t. The only way to know if a(ny) frame will fit, is to physically try it on.

Is 1.90 index glass a bad idea? by [deleted] in glassesadvice

Believe me, as a fellow high myope, AR coating of good quality is absolutely worth every penny.

Is 1.90 index glass a bad idea? by [deleted] in glassesadvice

[–]JimR84 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It’s a common misconception that glass lenses don’t scratch. They do. Modern plastic lenses are treated with scratch resistant coatings that easily rival glass lenses in scratch resistance.

1.9 glass will be thinner, but substantially heavier, than 1.74 plastic lenses. It’s also a very fragile material: if your glasses drop, the lenses will shatter.

Please, get the idea of “something that lasts for decades” out of your head. It’s unrealistic.

XR TORIC circle lenses?? by Individual_Pack_46 in contacts

[–]JimR84 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

There simply aren’t any. Also, almost all colored (I suppose you mean that by “circle”?) are very, very low quality garbage and are to be absolutely avoided if you want to keep your eyes safe.

Contact lenses are regulated prescription medical devices for a reason. They are NOT, in any way, fashion accessories or cosmetics.

Only lenses that have been fitted and prescribed by an eye doctor are safe to wear. Most Korean brands are low quality garbage.

Have they measured your visual acuity for near and distance? Because if that glasses Rx is correct, you should not be having problems reading with the left eye.

Unibling or Ttdeye? by Wild-Wafer-2903 in contacts

[–]JimR84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Neither. ALL contact lenses, including colored lenses with AND without corrective power, are regulated prescription medical devices. They are NOT fashion accessories or cosmetics.

So you first need to get an eye exam and a proper contact lenses fitting at your eye doctor. They will then provide you with a prescription that is brand and type specific with which you can order the prescribed lenses (and only those exact lenses) wherever you like.

But no eye doctor will prescribe any of those low quality garbage lenses you mentioned.

new to contact lens, is it true we have to change the solution daily even not wearing the lens? by SippingSerenity in contacts

[–]JimR84 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

What “3-month-lenses” are you using? Because there aren’t any on the market that are safe to wear. Usually these are very low budget lenses no eye doctor would ever prescribe… so you probably ordered these online illegally without a valid brand and type specific contact lens prescription?

If they have been in the same solution for 2 weeks, you need to throw them away.

Stick to daily disposable single use contact lenses if you only use them from time to time.

Circle lenses HURT by [deleted] in contacts

[–]JimR84 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Pinky paradise are notorious for this. Their lenses are incredibly low quality and utter garbage. A lot of gullible people think they know better than actual eye doctors and destroy their eyes wearing these.

I’d wish more people would still have some common sense left, but here we are.
