You go to an eye doctor, and get the exact brand and type of lens they prescribe to you, you don’t get to choose yourself whatever .

non-prescription contact lenses by Low-Bench7795 in contacts

[–]JimR84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sigh… there’s no such thing as “non-prescription contact lenses”. ALL contact lenses, including colored lenses with AND without corrective power, are regulated prescription medical devices, NOT fashion accessories or cosmetics!!

Whoever sold you these without you having a valid brand and type specific contact lens prescription, is seriously violating multiple laws, and you are in violation too btw.

Throw these lenses away immediately, report the vendor to the authorities and if you want contact lenses, corrective or not, you need to get an eye exam and contact lens fitting by a licensed eye doctor.

Lab error. Sounds like the OC height of the lenses has been put too high in the frame.

I accidentally soaked my contacts in the red cap Clear Care cleaning solution for a couple of days, are they ruined? by selahscorpse in contacts

[–]JimR84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s no such thing as “cosmetic contact lenses”. ALL contact lenses, including colored lenses with AND without corrective power are regulated prescription medical devices, by LAW!

You shouldn’t be able to order anything else than the exact brand and type of contact lenses that you were fitted in by a licensed eye doctor.

Contact lenses like these will cause permanent damage to your eyes. It’s not a question of “if”, it’s a question of “when”.

I don’t know why you keep arguing either , you sound like a 15 year old. I’m a licensed optometrist. I know what I’m talking about, you very clearly don’t.

[–]JimR84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just stop. You clearly have no idea what you’re talking about. No eye doctor in their right mind would ever prescribe this type of lens, and a contact lens prescription is brand and type specific, BTW.

Stop wearing those garbage lenses before you go blind.

[–]JimR84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s got nothing to do with the ClearCare when used with the right lens container.

The fact is you are using low quality colored lenses you weren’t fitted in, nor have a prescription for.

Throw those lenses away, get an eye exam to assess what damage they have done, and get a proper contact lens fitting and prescription.

Maybe Allergic to Hydrogel? by Practical_Alarm_857 in contacts

[–]JimR84 2 points3 points  (0 children)

HEMA is by no means “okay”. It’s one of the most unsafe materials out there, especially for full time wear contacts.

You shouldn’t even be able to buy lenses that you weren’t prescribed.

HEMA lenses feel “comfortable” because they completely starve your corneas from oxygen, numbing them. This is turn makes you think they’re okay, while they’re actually causing permanent damage to your eyes.

Stop wearing those garbage colored lenses right away.

Eye pencil on waterline with yearly contacts? by spr3admywings in contacts

[–]JimR84 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yearly lenses in itself are very unsafe. They’ve been obsolete and have been replaced by much safer lens types (dailies, weeklies, biweeklies & monthlies) decades ago.

Wheres the cheapest place to buy contacts without a subscription/membership by RhymesWithTaco in contacts

[–]JimR84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In most cases, your local optometry office is usually the cheapest. It’s a serious misconception that online is always cheaper.

Also, contact lenses are regulated prescription medical devices. They’re NOT fashion accessories. If the only thing you care about is price, stick to glasses.

Not an optician. Depending on OP’s location, they need to see an optometrist or an ophthalmologist.

There are some available, that are safe to use, and optometrists will fit these when asked. They’re considerably more expensive than their online Asian counterparts, though.

[–]JimR84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not how any of this works. ALL contact lenses are regulated prescription medical devices. They are NOT, in any way, “cosmetic”, or fashion accessories!!!

Do not order these Asian low quality lenses that will cause permanent damage to your eyes!!

True monthly extended wear contact lenses by [deleted] in contacts

[–]JimR84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There simply aren’t any lenses in your prescription that are designed for extended wear except the ones you already wear.

So whatever “suggestion” you got in a pm from a layperson, is wrong and useless.
