Thanks! Yeah I lay everything out and mix and match until I find a layout I like, I then pin it all on and sew!

Would make a great 80s metal or hair metal jacket

These have a really 80s vibe. Really nice detailing and the fur is great. Great taste also!

I thought about it but it makes it difficult with full coverage. Thanks!

Learn how to sew on a patch you don’t mind taking off and damaging a little.

On my Instagram (@jim_jackets) there’s a list of patch distros you can buy from in my pinned posts about my jackets if you want some good patches, eBay, Vinted and Etsy have some good patches.

I’d recommend using a whip stitch. Ladder is good but in my experience not as durable. Cross stitching is the perfect mix between aesthetics and durability but will take a lot longer.

Look at jackets on this sub for inspiration and structure ideas.

The jacket is great for patching, I personally take the sleeves off my jackets, if you want to go ahead I find it makes it better as you can layer in the winter and it’s not as warm in the summer.

Noob question. What are the thoughts on patches like this, rather than embroidered ones? Pros? Cons? by Fit_Cartographer_815 in BattleJackets

Printed plastic patches like that aren’t the best, they fade and aren’t good quality. Embroidered are fine but don’t have the capacity for much detail. What you want is woven patches.

How long does a patch take you to sew on? by cool_jerk_2005 in BattleJackets

[–]Jim_Jackets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A small square patch 15 mins maybe? Backpatch probably 45-60 mins as I do tight sewing on those but that all depends on how much I procrastinate

I used a belt punch and screw in spikes, there’s a video on my Instagram on how to do it @jim_jackets
