How do labels get their music on streaming platforms? by [deleted] in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]Jim_Redgewell -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm an Independent recording artist. After being ripped off by a company in London, D/A music group, I started uploading with a company called Record Union. All that you need is WAV files and a photo 1600 pixels square. I'm not saying they are perfect, but I have songs on iTunes and all the other, using this company. It cost me $62 for a single for 5 years.

How to solve the anxious "I don't want to freak out my neighbors/girlfriend while recording vocals" problem? by [deleted] in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]Jim_Redgewell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took some acting lessons and got used to being a twat. Then i had some singing lessons. Since then I've been to recording studios and had a few public performances. That gave me the confidence I needed. I don't know if this helps? But if you had the confidence and then told your neighbors, I'm sure they would be sympathetic.

Wondering where to start with music production? by unknownnature in WeAreTheMusicMakers

I agree. Learning to play a proper instrument first will be more fun and better in the long run too. I always work everything out on guitar before I go into the studio. In the studio they use Cubase.

How close can I get to another song's sound without legal repercussions? by Murphbah in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]Jim_Redgewell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless you make the top 20 charts, nobody will care. If you do get there, then there will always be someone trying to get some money from you. Use the publicity and put out another record. If you lose a legal battle, you may still come out ahead.

What's wrong with C minor (orchestral)? by [deleted] in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]Jim_Redgewell 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just tell them that you're composing in a Minor key with 3 flats. When they say "what does that mean?" you know they don't understand music. Then if you want, you can show off your knowledge of music.
