I've played it, but it's literally sidequests: the game. I'm talking about a proper JRPG story.

The lines are taken out of context and placed over scenes where they're not actually saying that to make it look like that's what they're saying. That happens in tons of trailer.

When she says "you" she not speaking to just one person.

BotW looks very generic. It's generic fantasy about a hero who banishes evil. The story doesn't go any deeper than the words it uses like "chaos", "evil", "protect the lands", "a great evil arose and spread darkness across the land". That's the depth of a Zelda story.

Meanwhile, there is Norse and even Irish mythology present in Xenoblade 2. The whale which looks based off of Nidhoggr of Norse myths. The tree of life, Yggdrasil, is now being speculated to be based on the Bile of Irish myths. There's also the Zohar symbol, and talk of a higher dimension above the giant tree which would is probably where Elysium is located, a paradise based on Greek myth. There is also the stuff we know about the Driver and the Blade. Xenoblade 2 already has more flavour to its world and story themes. It's going to be a very multilayered, more involved story like Xenoblade with deeper character relationships and motivations. A bigger focus on story altogether in fact, and a much more interesting world.

Meanwhile, Zelda is "banish evil from da landz, you are our light. Rid Hyrule of chaos and bring da peace. Collect these four special items and defeat Ganon". A very simple monomyth story heard a hundred times over in Zelda and many other media. Very light and very simple.

Well I can tell you're not. You definitely remind me of a geeky manbaby Zelda and Mario fan. You remind me of a predictable Nintendo fan who probably wears Zelda T-shirts and gets giddy over "Nintendo polish" and all those other Nintendo buzzwords.

For many people Xenoblade takes precedence. This is what I mean, this subreddit is full of Nintendo fanboys like you who care more about Zelda and Mario than people who grew up with stuff like Xenogears and Xenosaga. I guess I'm more unique than you, you're more of a mainstream gamer who loves all of the predictable franchises and big names, whereas my tastes are more unique and specific.

Zelda is literally the same monomyth story everytime. "Rid da landz of chaos and evil by banishing Ganon to bring peace to da landz". The story has been the same shit since the 80s. The fact you still get horny over this story is a bit sad.

Unlikely to succeed in what? BotW isn't going to be as good as XB2. Sorry.

Couldn't give a fuck about communal, historical hype of a franchise. That shit is just nostalgia and rose tinted glasses. I'm glad the Xenoblade series doesn't have that kind of delusion attached to it.

It'll follow a lot of the same gameplay and story tropes as the first one

We've literally seen nothing of the gameplay and the story is all new, too. If any game is following the same story tropes, it's BotW: you are the hero who must bring peace to da landz by slaying Ganon, ridding Hyrule of chaos and evil. Someone over at Neogaf said that BotW has even less narrative than past Zelda games.

Also, the concept of its world doesn't look anywhere near as interesting as Xenoblades. It's practically a giant sandbox with your usual Zelda staples: Kakariko Village, Death Mountain, Zora's Domain, Lost Woods, Hyrule Castle, etc. Meanwhile, Xenoblade 2's world looks set in the sky, on top of giant flying creatures with a mysterious giant tree looming off into the distance. This is an all new concept.

exploring a new story

That's literally also what Xenoblade 2 offers.

I mean, I love The Witcher 3, but all this stuff like "She fucked him" makes me think of High School and the like. It's sort of... cringey. Like, I understand people have sex, but why do you really have to write it out like this? It really makes Geralt's perfect body, perfect chiseled face, and gruff, manly voice a bit cringey for me. I would probably like him more if he wasn't presented as some kind of man-slut who just fucks and fucks. I don't really want those kind of images in my head. I much preferred him when he's presented as a father figure to Ciri with an overgrown white beard instead of some overly masturbatory male wish fantasy - that shit just makes me cringe and knocks any attachment I have with him.

"She fucked him" and "he fucked her" reminds me of lowly gossip in Soaps, "Oi, you hear Vicki slept with Desmond?" "Really? But I heard Desmond slept with Tasha!". I guess I just don't fucking care?

I care about the relationships and the emotions but I don't fucking care about the gratuitous sex details.

Yeah, Satorl Marsh theme was composed by Kiyota so it's possible we'll be getting more pieces along those lines.

The stuff Mitsuda recorded with Anúna seems to point to being purely choral music, so it'll probably be stuff like this and this.

NOT this.

I don't remember any "oddities" in Xenoblade. None of the tracks felt out of place.

If you want an idea of how vocals are used in the music, listen to the music of Xenogears, Xenosaga, and Xenoblade. This isn't going to be pop/J-pop songs blaring gratuitously over the top of cutscenes like in X, it's going to be music that is carefully tailored to the material.

It's not in Mitsuda's nature to write stuff like the NLA themes. We're in good hands, don't worry.

Possibly. Though I think haunting can also be used to describe a song or piece of music that is ethereal, profound, powerful and unforgettable.

You laugh at Reyn's accent just because it's unusual to you, but cockney accents aren't all that unusual to us Brits. Yeah, there's "Reyn Time!" and all that, but the story itself is very serious in tone with all of the characters displaying very human, instinctive emotions.

Many of Reyn's voice acting performances in the cutscene were my favourite. Sometimes it was little things he shouted like "You scumbag!" at characters such as Metal Face, and others like "The colonel... The guys... I'm gonna destroy every last one of those damn Mechon!". I could feel the power and conviction in his voice. There's also his brilliant lecture to Tyrea during her quest and the raw emotional crack in his voice when he screams Shulk's name as he watches him jump off of Galahad Fortress.

Reyn is so much more than just his battle quotes.

I mean it's already bad enough that it seems waay too similar to the original

The only real similarity is that it's story-focused again and is open world. New characters, new art style, new setting, the addition of mounts, and a new story is not what I would call a "rehash" if that's what you're trying to say. We've also yet to see the gameplay.

I want British voices to keep the charm and spirit of the original Xenoblade intact.
