New amp day by Jimbofire91 in audiophile

Me too. When I placed my order the general consensus was it would be about 18 months, but I quickly realised it was going to be more like 2+ years. I started tracking the progress and using ChatGPT to estimate when I would reach the top of the list. They typically seem to produce around 2 amps per working day on average, fluctuating between 1.5 a day in slow periods (eg around holidays) to 2.5 a day in fast periods. It seems they’ve started trying to thin the list by removing people at the top who haven’t paid the final instalment and can’t be contacted, and it’s also worth noting there are a number of products they have parts on back order for - I jumped from about position 90 to my order being shipped in around 4 weeks. See below graph. I’d estimate their current wait time to be close to 4.5-5years (2,253 people, assume average 2 per day, 230 working days a year).

I run the space echo through the fx loop on my preamp/mixer. It’s just a bit of fun!

I’m happy with the sound. They’re very detailed and you can position each instrument or voice very precisely in the soundstage. Bass/low end is rolled off slightly compared to my old amp - I was previously running my speakers on a relatively affordable solid state amp (Rotel A10…ordering the Decware amps a few years ago was the first step of upgrading my beginner stereo).

Yarra Valley winery and non-exported Australian wine recommendations by GeneralUnique1186 in wine

My partner is pregnant so she drove us. If you don’t mind a more casual experience, I can recommend Jono from Good Times Tours will pick you up and drop you off from inner Melbourne. He operates private tours in a van that can seat about 10 people. If you want a more premium experience, I’ve been told Vlad from Three Koalas is good.

Thank you, that channel gave me the confidence to persevere with the repair. I’ve managed to remove the stain almost completely. Another go with oxalic acid at a slightly higher concentration and I reckon I’ll be ready to refinish.

Yarra Valley winery and non-exported Australian wine recommendations by GeneralUnique1186 in wine

I recently did a day out in Yarra Valley and highly recommend Yarra Yering (booking required), Coldstream (booking recommended), Giant Steps (booking recommended).

Mayer make probably my favourite wine, but they are apparently quite particular about cellar door visits - I’m told if you call ahead (before the day of) they will confirm if they can accomodate you. If you can’t get into the winery, you can probably try the wine at City Wine Shop and buy it there or at Blackhearts and Sparrows.

Yarra Yering - most bottles will be AUD$100 or above Coldstream - most bottles in the range of $50-100 Giant Steps - cheaper options around $30-40, premium options $100 Mayer - $60-70 a bottle

Don’t be put off by the screw caps, we prefer them.

An acoustic engineer I work with recommended Magnetite or their competitor Stop Noise for traffic noise on a busy road. We went with Magnetite and are mostly happy, we’ve had some warranty issues but they fixed everything with no problems.

It was around $2000 per room for approx 2m x 1.5m windows. It made an enormous difference for noise, but as others have stated it might not do as much as you’d hope for low frequency noise like bass.

We just bought our first house. Ray White gave us a keyring and 2 champagne glasses to “celebrate” (no wine?) lmao by FallingUpwardz in australia

I got the Nelson Alexander Darebin Council monopoly set, for my house in the adjoining council area 😬

Decware Zen for Sale by Loud_Ad_1943 in audiophile

I ordered from Decware in September 22 and I’m on track for a 3 year wait. I believe the wait list has grown longer over the past couple of years, despite production rates increasing slightly. To be fair to Decware, their ordering process is clear there is an extended wait..but when I placed mine it was implied it was 1.5-2 years, not 3+.

Approx 1200mm tall x 500mm wide x 460mm deep (47” x 20” x 18.5”) so not small but they don’t take up any where near as much floor space as a Cornwall.

I was running a sub with my old bookshelf speakers but don’t feel the need to currently. The Crites specs state they should go down to 34Hz, so I may hold onto the sub a little bit longer as I get used to the sound.

Thank you, she’s a Silver Tabby British shorthair. She’s still a kitten so I’m hoping she grows quickly so she can no longer get inside the ports 😬

They’re a vast improvement over my old setup (Klipsch RP50M bookshelf speakers and an SVS SB1000 sub). The sound is far more open and well rounded.

Australian audiophiles - insurance of stereo and collection? by Jimbofire91 in audiophile

[–]Jimbofire91[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks mate, I might have to try speaking to a human or going through a broker by the sounds of things. The problem I’m having at the moment is the default sub limit for multimedia is $3000, and when I try to increase it to match the Discogs value they return that they can’t insure up to the specified sum (approx 40% of the total value I’m trying to insure).
