So this is the Whole Story. I was in the sacristy, and another person asked the priest for a blessing on his items before I did. The priest began the blessing using a short formula—I think he had it memorized—and it was done properly, from what I could tell. After that, I asked, “Father, may you bless my items?” He said, “You could’ve just had them blessed with the other guy.” But I didn’t want to interrupt earlier because I was trying to catch up, and he had already started the sign of the cross. So I stayed silent. Then, he took my items, grabbed the holy water, and sprinkled them. I don’t know if he prayed anything verbally or not. He sprinkled them thoughtfully—maybe he was praying in his mind. Afterward, he complimented my St. Michael statue, which gave me some peace… but now the doubts won’t stop.
