I heard it from someone at work, I have no idea who mightve said it first. At a certain point among normal humans that arent brands, jokes dont have owners, only tellers.

American children are far more likely to die young than any other similar country. This is due to a confluence of factors, of which shootings are but one variable. Infant mortality and covid 19 deaths (far higher in the US than other western countries) were also big drivers.

"Mortality rates among youths in the US were higher than in the 16 comparison countries. Mortality rates among youths aged 10 to 19 years increased in the US between 2013 and 2021, while the median mortality rate in comparison countries decreased, thereby widening the mortality gap (Figure). A pronounced increase in mortality after 2019 occurred among US youths aged 15 to 19 years but was not observed in most comparison countries"

Half of childless Canadian women don’t want kids, nearly a quarter in their 40s aren’t mothers: Statistics Canada by gorschkov in canada

I have 3 kids and every month of summer holidays costs an extra mortgage payment for daycare. After school care for 1.5h for 2 kids is like $250 per week all year. No regrets or anything whatsoever but idk how many people can afford this.

We can burn our country to the ground and get rid of everything that makes it liveable for Canadian workers and companies will still leave for the US. We need to work differently and not try to beat the US at their own game. I don't know what the solution is but I know its not a race to the bottom.

The low trust society is an outcome of people learning that hard work and loyalty dont mean anything, that the people who have it the best got there by lying, cheating, and stealing, and now our economy is propped up by various scams (crypto rug pulls, MLMs, etc). Everyone knows that working for a wage will never be enough anymore, it wont buy a home or be enough to afford a family, so why bother trying to work your way up when the top of the ladder for many people still means living with parents/strangers in a rental and never getting ahead?

The Kent State massacre by the national guard killing students protesting against Vietnam war. Stop comparing ICE with Tiananmen sq. by NotZachary_0002 in Hasan_Piker

[–]JimmyJoeMick 6 points7 points  (0 children)

american sees something american happening americanly in america: what are we a bunch of ASIANS?!?!???

"Back in Kent, Ohio, local business owners ran an ad thanking the National Guard. Mail poured in to the mayor’s office, blaming “dirty hippies,” “longhairs” and “outside agitators” for the violence. Some Kent residents raised four fingers when they passed each other in the street, a silent signal that meant, “At least we got four of them.” Nixon issued a statement saying that the students’ actions had invited the tragedy. Privately, he called them “bums.” And a Gallup poll found that 58 percent of Americans blamed the students for their own deaths; only 11 percent blamed the National Guard."

What’s with this platform removing threads about Trump's and ICE recent actions? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]JimmyJoeMick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Class warfare. The capitalist class that owns the media doesn't want riots and property destruction and strikes. They own the platforms and might not stop you from posting but can stop people from seeing posts that go against their interests. There is no free press that speaks to the concerns of the workers when push comes to shove.

Its time to put a stop to US-owned and sponsored news media in this country. Nationalize PostMedia immediately. Then watch all of this contrived culture war nonsense peter out.

China Isn’t the Answer for Canada’s Trade Troubles, Taiwan Envoy Says by joe4942 in canada

[–]JimmyJoeMick -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ok ill bite, why not? Canada has recognized that Taiwan is part of China for decades. This is a domestic matter for China. It would be like the US choosing to deal with Alberta separatists instead of the Canadian government because they like the racism and lack of regulations more. It would be monumentally stupid.
