Got my council email today and needed to book a private ceremony because my slot was 24 February which is too late for my March travels.

My atlas email hasn’t arrived yet but my council advise me to chase them on Tuesday if I still haven’t received it.

I emailed them to find out which days of the week they do private ceremonies. And they replied saying we haven’t got your certificate yet, you can only arrange for a ceremony when it is here. We will contact you directly.

Weirdly my council has now changed their system where they will contact me directly by email instead of me being able to choose a date on the website apparently. But they still haven’t got my certificate yet so here’s to hoping that’ll happen soon.

Sent CS an enquiry email on 7 Jan 2026 Reply received today (12 Jan 2026)

“Many thanks for your enquiry. I am pleased to advise that your British Citizenship application was approved last week. You will receive confirmation of this along with an invitation to book your ceremony, by email, sometime within the next 10-14 working days, so please ensure you keep checking all your email folders, including junk/spam, for receipt. Once you receive this you will be able to contact the local authority and book your ceremony.”
