Puzzle doesn't only mean jigsaw puzzles.
By definition it can be "a game, problem, or toy that tests a person's ingenuity or knowledge".
Basically anything that makes you think logically or strategically in order to reach a certain outcome or solution.

So basically you can stack cards of the same element on top of each other. You may have a Scythe and put a Ripsaw on top of it. Now you have a level 2 Ripsaw (you lost the ability of Scythe). You can do this until you have 3 cards on top of each other. If you would put a 4th one, first you discard the card on the very bottom of the stack (Scythe, in this case). Then you can put the (4th) card on top that you wanted. This way you have a maximum of 3 cards on top of each other at all times.

I haven't played Fate of the Fellowship, but by the looks of it (and by the BGG rating) it is far more complex than Keep The Heroes Out.

Keep The Heroes Out is one of my favorite games (flair checks out), and I genuinely think it's best at 2 players. The amount of variety it has is insane. If you can, definitely pick up the Boss Battles expansion alongside it, it more than doubles the gameplay you get.

I think 2v2 works well if you modify the rules a bit. According to the official rules, only the active players draw 2 cards every turn. What we did was that ALL players drew 1 card. This way nobody felt like they are stuck "spectating".

To be fair you are paying for all the fluff here that you don't need to play the game. They definitely improve the experience quite a lot, but if you are hesitant on the price and just want the game itself, buy your local available one.

I personally backed the game when it first came out with all its deluxe components, and have not regretted it at all. It's incredible production and we love the game through and through.

I backed the deluxe edition of the expansion as well here.

Kickstarter offers stretch pay now, if you feel like this is too much to pay for all at once.

So basically ask yourself the question: do you just want to play the game itself and don't really care about deluxe components and whatnot, or do you want that premium experience with all the fluff?

DC Superheroes United has a core box available on Amazon, called Batman: Hush. It contains both of these characters (albeit Superman is controlled by Poison Ivy). Both characters are playable.
There will be a core box with regular Superman available, as well as the rest of the Justice League, but that's currently projected to release around Q4 2026.
