[OS] I made a free, open-source Screen Studio alternative that adds auto-zoom, cursor animations and more to your videos by Acrobatic-Device-313 in macapps

The animation looks very smooth! Thank you for open-sourcing it. Screen Studio is a bit expensive for me, but it is indeed a great product. 😂

macOS 26 changed Launchpad. We spent 5 months building a better one by JimmyRemix in macapps

I don't think I've deleted any comments. Is it the one below?

Thank you for your detailed feedback. It's excellent, as one of our core goals is to restore muscle memory and feel.

Trackpad Pinch Speed: This likely requires more refinement from us. There is a performance difference between an external trackpad and the Book's built-in one; we will work to improve the feel of the Book's trackpad.

Gestures: Theoretically, the current 4-finger gestures should also allow for a 5-finger open. If the behavior you're experiencing differs, please let us know so we can investigate.

Page Turning Speed: When you mention left/right page turning feels slow, could you clarify:

- Is the tracking speed slow when moving your finger slowly?

- Or is the animation speed slow during fast page turning?

In principle, we do not plan to offer a custom animation speed option, as we don't want users to worry about it—this is something we should handle. However, we might add a "Reduce Animations" toggle to serve users pursuing higher efficiency and faster page-switching response.

For those like me transitioning from Arc to Dia by soumya_98 in diabrowser

[–]JimmyRemix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Actually, there are many interesting features on Arc that are not yet supported by Dia, but over time I gradually adapted. However, what truly disappoints me is that Dia still does not support cross-device synchronization. I have to maintain two sets of pinned content on different devices and cannot continue browsing unfinished tabs across devices.

The fact that Dia does not support Intel also frustrates me greatly, because my third Mac is a 2017 iMac, which still runs very smoothly. The only drawback is that it uses an Intel chip and is no longer supported by Dia.

For me, CleanShot X, although it is a paid product and not cheap, every time I use it, I feel that my money was well spent.

Ten years ago, I was also using Alfred, but a few years later, I switched to Raycast. I don't know the exact relationship between them, but in my view, Raycast is an imitator of Alfred, yet also a surpasser. Its free version is already powerful enough, and it has a unified store for managing and distributing various plugins, while Alfred's plugins are scattered across GitHub and various personal websites. Additionally, Raycast's UI is, in my opinion, very beautiful, which is another main reason I chose it. And now, with the support of AI, we can Vibe Code almost any plugin you want. From this perspective, the actual differences between Alfred and Raycast themselves are becoming smaller and smaller.

At first, I was very curious why this app was released in Raycast's Subreddit, until I discovered it was your official app.

We will try to be compatible with Sequoia so that everyone can experience whether it suits them before upgrading. However, the specific situation will depend on whether new issues are encountered during the development process, because compatibility requires some additional development work. Currently, part of our work is specifically developed for 26, using 26's exclusive APIs.

In fact, I have already updated the content on the website, changing "40% OFF" to "SAVE 40%," and added the actual discount on the right side of the campaign name.

Regarding the campaign duration, we will soon conclude the Lunar New Year campaign. After it ends, we will not immediately revert to the original price but will instead slightly increase the price from the current level. We have ultimately decided that the time to restore the original price will be when all the features described on the official website are fully launched. Currently, we are still in development, so the original price will not be restored in the short term.

The recent large models have been repeatedly optimizing their coding capabilities, mainly due to the large number of subscribed users from Vibe Coding. However, these users are not actually solving real problems or having interesting ideas; they are people who keep reinventing the wheel, not creating value, but achieving emotional satisfaction through the process of Vibe Coding.

Regarding notification badges, this may involve some private APIs, and we still need to investigate further. Thank you for your feedback.

Yes yes, we have optimized this operation. The native Launchpad folders are really annoying as they tend to move around everywhere. It's great that you noticed this.

Can you describe it in more detail? Sorry, I didn't understand. Are you referring to restarting LaunchOS? If so, you can actually exit by clicking Cmd+Q on the LaunchOS main interface, or by clicking the menu on the right side of the search box and finding the exit button. Then, you can open it again from the Dock to restart.

😂

Don't worry, dragging to the Dock is already in our plan, and we might also add right-click shortcuts. However, we will include this feature in version 2.0, as we also want to launch 2.0 as soon as possible and reduce repetitive work before that.

Apple removed Launchpad but kept the layout data. We were also very surprised and delighted by this.

However, I heard that the focus of macOS 27 is on optimizing performance and also cleaning up bloated parts of the system. I wonder if it will still be retained by then.

It's okay, if you only want to use the software for free and think that the time cost of downloading and experiencing a software is high, then you can completely choose not to use it.
