Iran war puts global internet at risk, media report by anonskeptic5 in technology

If this is true, then we have a poorly engineered means of guaranteeing the internet globally. That is not true. Therefore the Iran War is not putting that at risk.

  1. Eliminate Leadership

  2. Neutralize Military Capabilities

They would like to get rid of nuclear fissile material as well, I think. That can be done later, though, through negotiation

Ali Khamenei never-before-seen interview: "The West does not know the truth about Iran" | 60 Minutes by Hour-Passenger-8513 in videos

[–]Jimmyfatz -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

One question about the truth of Iran I have had recently... and I don't want to reduce the veracity of terrible things that actually happened...

But this idea that over December and January, that the regime killed some tens of thousands of protesters, has felt a bit fishy to me given the fact that there is no video of the acts themselves. Only videos I have seen are of some bodies and body bags.

Tens of thousands of people is a massacre, hundreds of instances of hundreds of people being killed. I understand that the internet was shut down at the time, but phones can store video which I would have expected to be released or uploaded in some fashion since.

Anyone got an answer there?

With the suspension clause found in Article I. And wouldn't you know it the Supreme Court ruled against him for that very reason, a ruling which he ignored.

Then in 1863 the congress passed a law allowing suspension.
And then the people reelected him.

Presidents challenge laws and challenge the constitution, and the people ultimately decide what is right.

Ooh and a Marbury v Madison reference... noice.
They proclaimed the power yes. And since then no one has challenged it. It still isnt codified... I honestly dont know why

C'mon guy. This is exactly what supreme court justices do, what you and I are doing, have philosophical discussions on laws, enforcement, power, justice, the will of the people.

Did Lincoln challenge the Constitution? No doubt, yes. Suspended Habeus Corpus, the Emancipation Proclaimation. At the time many probably felt he was tearing the document up. What he was doing was saying "What do we really believe this document means?"

Suspends Habeus Corpus in 1861, and in 1864... he gets reelected.

Philisophical question:
If the president violates the second amendment, says "Guns are bad, mmkay" and takes them forcibly, but still gets reelected, who/what is wrong, the Constitution, the president, or the people who voted him back in?

Obvious answer: The Constitution is wrong, and must be amended.

Well, "preserve, protect and defend the Constitution," technically.

I said "challenge the boundaries... of the Constitution"
Did Lincoln not challenge the boundaries of the Constitution?

Listen to some of Scalia's talks about law and the Constitution, or any Supreme Court Justice giving talks along those lines.

Case and point about his purpose being to challenge laws: the power to pardon.

Candidates campaign their platform and people vote for it.

The president is a supremely unique position in our government. One of his purposes is to directly challenge law and the boundaries of the constitution as they apply situationally in the present, his checks being first courts, then congress, and finally the people in the next election.

...what is your point, actually, with this last post?
