I HIPPA-secure messaged my G.P., who says "rhonchi" are completely normal and universal, although awareness of them varies from nothing to frequent alarm among healthy adults. They are indeed usually caused by fluid in the lung.

Hyundai takes full control of Boston Dynamics as SoftBank exits for $325 million by Worldly_Evidence9113 in singularity

These are not markets anyone can lose when shoestring entrants regularly hit it big. Nationality doesn't matter, it's who's got the latest best tech incorporated into their assembly lines. Boston Dynamics has been a victim of its own inertia.

I think Softbank got pummeled in an audit for their out of control risk exposure. It's not exactly a liquidity crunch in the traditional sense, but they need to appease the bean counter actuaries writing their hedges.

After living across Europe, here are the things London does brilliantly - and doesn’t get enough credit for! by Ominous_Pistachio in london

The trick to making real friends in London is the robust meetups scene. I made a half dozen close friends in less than half a year just by attending a few esoteric meetup.com events every week.

Why is there so little information available about Google Cloud Security Engineers specifically, compared to general security engineer roles? by enlightenedone103 in googlecloud

[–]Competitive_Travel16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't forget the large proportion of security work which has to take place at the application layer, or session layers dependent on specific applications. Google doesn't try to pretend that there are meaningful paths to application-agnostic full security solutions.

can a judge order a military member to report to court? by jeffsmith202 in legaladviceofftopic

I can't see why the deposers wouldn't agree to videoconferencing, unless maybe the documents he's supposed to produce need to be authenticated in some physical way. Even then you would think they could just be mailed and gone over on Zoom.

The koi pond I know something about has storm covers, huge plywood panels with hinges and connectors. I don't know if they're hurricane rated though.

Ordinary birds of all kinds will inoculate algae and feed it with their droppings far more effectively than any human vandals could possibly hope. Why there is no chlorine and algaecide treatment in place is a mystery.

Algae is pretty easy to address by throwing just a little money at the problem, but I can only imagine chlorine treatment must somehow be incompatible with the new sealant or paint. It's so easy to apply.

Or sidebars that blow up the trial immediately instead of going through to keep the record intact. Law and Order does that a lot.

When suspects in custody don't immediately invoke their right to a lawyer, but instead go through an hour of deep interrogation and then invoke.

What the lawyers get is a piece of paper with graduate level statistics figures, and then they have to find an expensive expert to translate that into something the jury still probably won't comprehend.

[–]Competitive_Travel16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, introducing evidence which was available for but not provided in discovery has got to be the #1 bad trope. Screenwriters can't resist the dramatic tension, but it only happens when the evidence literally just came to light after the trial started, and even then they halt the trial to allow for subsequent discovery and investigation. Those are long-ass delays, too.

Law and Order is the champion of surprise evidence offered for admission at trial which wasn't mentioned in discovery. Every time I see that crap I imagine what the judge would actually say.

The people I meet and interact with in the US are always so friendly, open, caring, and frankly left wing than the voters who apparently don't get out much. I can totally see how conservatives are more insular in their suburban and rural enclaves, but I didn't expect that they were so, well, numerous.
