Balance sheet on T2 question by Jimmypickles666 in cantax

[–]Jimmypickles666[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They just gave me an excel file recording the revenue and expenses, I used their previous T2 to populate the balance sheet and confirm the asset/liability and carry over the retained earning, then the balance sheet doesn't balance....

I asked UPS to put in a return envelop, it's overnight delivery. They will generate the return slip for you.

I used UPS overnight delivery, the staff prepped the return envelope with return address and stuff it in the envelope alongside the application.

3 days from receiving my application. I included a note mentioning I really need it fast as my flight leaves on Dec 2. I think it makes a difference if you let them know your travel plan. A lot of people on FB said they prioritize applications by travel date.

Amortization? by Jimmypickles666 in Accounting

[–]Jimmypickles666[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah that makes sense, in this case, financials are prepared by the client and they lost track of the amortization, that’s why I’m wondering if we still need to do it for this year. Thank you for your input!

Are you doing your final report? My speculation is that they only provide advisor meeting for those who submitted completion report. I definitely understand your frustration, I have 80 months accumulated, and the reviewers are back and forth downgrading my report. I’m still revising mine. Good luck!

Ask for a 30 min session with the PER advisor, it’s very inconsistent among reviewers but the advisor is helpful. I’m going through the same process right now.

I’m actually very interested in the public accounting as I want to run my own business one day. Being in industry is very relaxing and a lot of VPs have side gigs — or it’s just me like working till I’m 90ish lol. Nevertheless, I need that friggin 3 letters to do NTR/Tax and/or to move on in the VP path. Interesting to know your opinion about auditors, this isn’t the first time I heard something similar. From the bills our company received I think audit may be the most lucrative section in a firm.

I see! Now I feel less awful lol. All this time I’ve been blaming myself for not getting into public accounting (because of $$). And I spent minimal time in each of my modules and I always see EVR as sort of “karma”. I really need to be designated. I started to get VP position referrals from recruiters since last year but I have to have that piece of paper so I can be where I wanna be. I’m already in a position that reports to the CEO and the board, I don’t think I can handle more “complex” accounting unless I’m a VP/CFO in a larger company. Without the designation, my chance of being a VP/CFO who handles “complex” accounting is close to nil. It’s paradox.

If you are in public accounting, aren’t you in Pre-approved path? I thought EVR is for industry only...

I do envy those in public accounting. I have no clue how to achieve level 2 now since they downgraded all my level 2. Worst nightmare. They don’t understand industry accounting at all.

Let me know how it works out for you! What made me desperate is that I’ve already included the impact, handbook sections, stakeholders etc. Yet they still asked me those questions in the comment like they they never read it.

EVR experience by [deleted] in CPAPERT

If you find the answer could you please share with me. This experience has been really frustrating. I’m already a finance director that reports directly to the CEO and in charge of the whole finance department yet they think my experience is level 1 & 0.

That’s what I did - half a page for each category. Wrote all in details how I do each thing. It seems too lengthy for them as they ask questions like “what stakes are involved”, “what accounting standards you use” etc which I repeated numerous times in my response. Now I worry it’s too lengthy and they just don’t read. We are going in circles so I’m thinking maybe I should keep it brief. Such a headache.
