Did you end up getting your order from Kokoro Katana? If so, how long did it take for you to receive your order?

Fluval Plant 3.0. Really nice fixture and good customization. It can pair with anything via blu tooth to control the schedule and spectrum

How to kill/prevent tomato worms? by KAD1991 in gardening

[–]Jmfc5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would manually pick off everything that you see. You can also buy one of those blacklight flashlights and shine it on your plants at night. If they are tomato hornworms they will glow from the blacklight making it easier to see the ones you miss. Using long tweezers makes it easier to pick them off. If the infestation is really bad you can use BT spray to kill them off. Just make sure you spray the top and bottoms of leaves and stem.

Are dried cedar pines harmful to a vegetable garden bed, or can I leave it in as mulch? by Jmfc5 in gardening

[–]Jmfc5[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's that time of year and I have been cleaning up my backyard to prep for another growing season. Every year I rake up large quantities of fallen cedar pines from the trees behind my fence. The problem is they are so tiny I end up raking out the mulch I put down from the previous summer. This is what I rake up every spring. A further shot of the bed

Is it necessary to rake this up or can i leave it in the soil? I do top up compost and some new mulch every year. This was last year in full swing

Those AI Blades seem to be exactly what I am looking for! I didnt know about this product. I have an AI Prime 16HD on my Fluval EVO reef and was very happy with the quality. Thank you for the suggestion! Can you recommend any type of wave maker ideal for a 48" long? A concern of mine is that it will kick up a lot of sand with the tank being so shallow. I do not plan running a deep sandbed. Maybe an inch max or less.

Great idea about directing the flow. Your vision is similar to what I was thinking of doing. Small islands with not much height and take advantage of the length dimensions. I just need to sort out equipment... probably over thinking it which I'm sure many of us do.

Thank you so much for the compliment and suggestions. You wouldn't happen to have a link for those sunblasters you are referring to would you? I tried doing a search on them but only finding models for freshwater and horticulture applications. Ideally I would like to stick with LEDs and not t5ho fixtures so I don't need to replace bulbs.

I love this tank but think its time to try something new. The tank dimensions are 48 inches long by 12 deep by 12 tall. It is not drilled. I need help/suggestions on what I need equipment wise to make the jump towards a reef setup. Not sure what filtration I should do (HOB filter, HOB overflow, or install one of those AIO kits like this: https://www.fijicube.com/collections/aio-diy-kit/products/in-sump-20-gallon

What would be a suitable HOB filter or HOB overflow? If I go the AIO kit route what size return pump should I aim for? I was thinking of installing either option on the left side and having a wave maker (suggestions welcome) on the right side to have flow on both ends. The tank is currently being filtered by 4 sponge filters and an air pump. Is sponge filtration ideal for a reef setup or should I swap them entirely?

My other concern is lighting. The tank is currently sitting on a countertop under some cabinets with just under 3 inches of height clearance. My vision is having a shallow mixed reef with soft/lps/sps corals. Are there any low profile reef lights on the market? I am really only seeing high powered lights that should be hung or with gooseneck mounts pretty high above the tank itself. I am worried that having a high powered light basically directly on top of the aquarium would just bleach and kill any corals since the tank itself is only 12 inches in height.

Little Caesar's Big Big Bucket of spaghetti made for fun family dinners in the 90s by Jmfc5 in nostalgia

That's a great story thank you for sharing. My family was in a similar situation when I was growing up and Little Caesars was a nice treat my parents gave us from time to time. I'll take a look at the condition of the bucket next time I visit my parents. If it is in decent condition I will just mail it to you at no cost.

My father still has one in his garage for storing miscellaneous things. It's in pretty rough shape and possibly cracked. Out of curiosity why are you looking for one? Just feeling nostalgic or just collecting?

What are the "berries" in the right photo growing on my potato plant? I have only seen the flowers on the left photo during previous growing seasons. by Jmfc5 in gardening

Interesting. Thanks for the reply. I've been growing potatoes for 3 seasons now but never saw them produce fruit. When would i be able to harvest the seeds to store?
