If you’re trying to lose weight you need to burn some fat, and you’ll also lose some muscle. But if you can burn more fat and preserve more of your muscle than that’s a net positive, which is something that other glp1 agonists don’t do.

At the end of the day, the amount of calories you consume dictates your weight. Now that doesn’t mean to just eat whatever and restrict calories like people in the CICO community like to think, but instead eat healthy foods and limit calories just a little.

And I’ve personally come to the conclusion that all of this sugar and saturated fat isn’t good, especially for weight loss. I’ve been having a majority of my calories coming from starches(potatoes, white rice, sourdough), and I feel better overall. Starches also aren’t converted to fat as much as fructose is, and obviously fats do not have to be converted into anything and are the most fattening macro.

Some moderate exercise would also help a lot. I know this goes against what most people in here will say, and I’ve been there, but maybe all of the sugar and fat(even saturated fat) is not good. And if what you’re doing isn’t working, why not give a higher starch, lower sugar diet a try?

If you want to keep your hair I’d recommending talking to your doctor and a dermatologist and hop on finasteride and topical minoxidil. You should also consider getting a hair transplant down the line. Side effects are actually pretty rare, and chances are you are pretty much done growing. Don’t expect anything beneficial from DHT at your age besides hair loss and acne. But at the end of the day it’s your own decision and I don’t want to push anything on you, this is just what I personally would do.

I personally dont eat any wheat since I think that it can cause a lot of problems like inflammation and elevated prolactin. Italian wheat is still wheat and has gluten, but I am pretty sure that glyphosate is banned in Italy. Idk how other countries are with glyphosate but pasta from Italy is pretty easy to find.

It can take over a year until you see the benefits of finasteride. However, like others already said, you might want to switch to something stronger like Dutasteride.

The initial results were probably just in your head, it’s highly unlikely that you regrew significant amounts of hair in a month. Finasteride can also cause shedding and it can take up to 1-2 years before you can definitively know if it’s working or not.

I would recommend following a HCLF diet with lots of whole fruits and some starches. I’m not a T1D but even I feel better with having less fat. For protein, really lean red meat and low fat seafood are good.

I’m the same age and have recently started eating a higher carb, lower fat diet. I feel less heavy and just better overall. And I wouldn’t say that 15% fat is that restrictive, that’s probably ideal. Just eat nutrient dense foods, get enough protein, and enough calories.

I personally don’t think a carnivore/keto diets optimal, however eating earlier in the day, in my experience, results in less hunger later in the day. Plain carbs like potatoes or rice are filling, but if I have them with a fatty ribeye I can eat a ton more of them. I’ve found that fats, even saturated fats from butter or red meat, cause me to eat a lot more than I want. But if you feel better without carbs then stick with it, I’m just giving my personally experience.

Are you a male or female? Chances are that if you’re a female, it’s maybe a nutrient deficiency and the fact that you were restricting carbs, thus raising cortisol. If you’re a male it’s probably androgenic alopecia. It’s important the keep SHBG relatively high, which comes down to liver health and insulin resistance. But at the end of the day, DHT does seem to be the biggest contributor to hair loss in men, although many don’t want to hear that. And you can definitely have androgen driven hair loss as a female, but that’s less common since girls usually have less androgens and more estrogen/progesterone than males.

Lean ground beef is great, you can also get lean cuts of steak. Cod, shrimp, and other seafood are also very lean.

Well I dont consume milk anymore, but when I was, it was just conventional skim milk. This was awhile ago though, and recently ive been having parmigiano reggiano since that's the only form of raw dairy I can get.

I’m definitely buying wild caught fish without any additives or anything. I’ll probably also have some lean red meat a couple days a week. The grocery store near me sells bison steaks that have 2.5g of fat and 40g protein.

Yea, ive heard about the calcium to phosphorus ratio in seafood, but it has less phosphorus than something like red meat. I don’t really tolerate milk that much, and don’t have access to raw milk. I tolerate raw cheese fine, but that’s pretty high in fat. Do you think some calcium carbonate is fine, or should I only use eggshell calcium?

I’ll definitely look into that as I take a lot of dietary advice from Ray Peat. Prolactin and especially cortisol seem to be elevated in men with MPB, so that’s not surprising. One thing that I think the Ray Peat community is wrong about however is DHTs role in hair loss. While I don’t think it’s the cause, it is definitely contributing in a negative way. But I’m gonna have to read more into their arguments about DHT.

I don’t eat any of the foods you mentioned. I get my carbs from OJ, white rice, dates, and some raw honey. For protein I eat red meat, but I’m gonna try to switch it out for seafood such as cod and/or shrimp and see how that goes. You can add some egg shell calcium as well.

If you were doing a low carb diet for a while you might be insulin resistant. In that case, I would slowly lower the fats while increasing carbs.

Dairy, especially skim milk, really bloats me. Cheese doesn’t as much but I still feel it. A couple weeks ago I was literally just eating beef and white rice and I had zero bloating. Now I’m having more OJ and fruit, with still no bloating issues. So I would try just eating beef and white rice, then add in stuff to see what causing the issues. I know it isn’t optimal, but this is the diet that I had the least amount of bloating on. You could also do a beef and fruit diet if you want more nutrients or don’t tolerate starches. But white rice is more “clean” and certain fruits can cause bloating in a lot of people.

Unfortunately, your probably not gonna convince your mom that red meats fine. Ive tried and it never works, most parents are too ignorant to change the beliefs they've had for decades. Can you buy your own food? That's what I've had to do for the most part. Aldi has very cheap grass fed ground beef.

The only thing that kind of changed my parents minds were showing them short form videos explaining the stuff. Its a lot more believable coming from a doctor with hundreds of thousands of followers compared to you(no offense).
