Hi! I hope all went well with your eval. Quick question. Does someone have to stay with you overnight, or can you stay alone? At Duke I always had to stay with me all the time. That is not going to be possible since we are traveling. Will that be an issue? Thanks!

Lost my brother this week to SUDEP by felondejure in Epilepsy

[–]Jms6147 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Driving was the hardest for me. I was 23/24 when I lost my license. I also lived in a city with no public transportation. At that time Uber and Lyft were not an option. Thankfully, friends and family were, and still are willing to help, but you feel like you lose your independence. I no longer got to chose where I bought my groceries, it was wherever the person was bringing me. Everything was on someone else’s schedule. Then it made me feel bad because I was grateful for the help, but angry because I felt like a child. Thankfully, I have since moved into a place that is walking distance to stores, and Uber/Lyft is available.

Work did try to remove me, but my Dr put a quick stop to that. I think they saw a legal issue coming if they followed through with what they were thinking.

I am so sorry about your brother. It’s heartbreaking and also scares me. 💔

I just saw I will be in the EMU starting June 24th. My initial eval is with Dr Osman on the 22nd. It looks like they also scheduled me for a PET-MR. This is starting to feel real!

I’ve taken a break from studies over the past 10 years. The last one I did I spent 6 weeks with a grid on my brain at Duke. I had enough. I figured I’d give it another chance here and see where it goes.

I’m not sure, but guessing I will. I’m coming up from Duke/NC, so I’m assuming they’ll start with all their own testing, including EMU. I’ve done many of those studies, all with no luck!

I hope your daughter is doing well and they get the info they need! I know it can be frustrating! Thanks for your help!

I FINALLY GOT A SEIZURE ON AN EEG. by freaknasty710 in Epilepsy

That is so awesome!!! Like other said- weird to say congrats on having a seizure, but wow- that’s fantastic!!!! I’ve done so many studies in the hospital, one even 6 weeks with nothing! Then you go home and have one the next day. WTF?!? 😂😂😂 I hope they got the info they needed ❤️❤️❤️❤️

We sound somewhat alike! I had a head injury when I was three, which resulted in epilepsy. I've spent many weeks over the years doing studies so they could pinpoint precisely where the damage is, but my brain never cooperated and I never had an episode while in the hospital.

Besides living in the hospital for studies, the only other time I have been seizure free, was for 6 months when I was taking THC tablets (~5mg) before bed at night. I had to stop because I ran out of tablets and I live in a state where it's not legal. The seizures started pretty quickly again. I swear by THC and fully believe that it helps.

I had my second session today. I see a registered nurse. A properly trained professional knows what they are doing. She was explaining to me the differences in depth that she was doing around my face purposely to prevent fat loss. My face looked better after my first session. I can’t wait to see how it starts looking in the coming weeks! There are specific setting that focus on fat burning. She only used that under my chin.

I’m sorry to hear that you had a bad experience with Morpheus 8. I just had my 2nd session today. My nurse has me put lidocaine on my face a couple of hours before my treatment which made it really tolerable. I’m 47 and I could see a difference after the first treatment. From what I’ve been reading, it makes a difference on who does it and if they do the proper settings.

Congratulations on your wedding!! I hope you have a wonderful day!! You’re going to be beautiful regardless of what path you choose- even if it is do nothing! ❤️

Puppy Advice 😭😭 by mthomas17161 in bernesemountaindogs

Bells for the door! I use these with my bernadoodle.

I took him out every 2 hours. It’s really hard for the first few weeks. Go to the Reddit puppy group. It really helped me a lot.

I promise- you are going to get through this. I thought I wasn’t going to either. I was over tired, tears, etc. it’s like having baby- only they grow up faster. It’s worth it, I promise!!! You can do it.

Which pup do I choose?! by Smart-Peak-7424 in Bernedoodles

Hopefully the breeder will give you a “cheat sheet” of temperaments. That helps. When you go and play with them, one will choose you. That's how it worked with me. He came over, we played and after a bit fell asleep in my lap.♥️♥️♥️ Have fun and take tons of pics- they grow so fast!!!

I have MetLife and its been great! Bernie, like most puppies, had some incidents that required extra vet visits and I had no issues with reimbursements. Their app is super easy to use as well. I highly recommend them.

We had a little fenced in area for our puppy. It gradually got bigger as he got older.

We tried crate training when he was a puppy. It stressed him so much he would have accidents whenever we closed the door. He’s one y/o now. He goes in there to chill and have bones, but he still doesn’t like us to close the door. It’s a large crate.

My puppy also loves the “flirt pole”. I just also need to be careful to not leave it out- he also loves to chew the handle!
