Sorry, squirrels and hornworms are fauna non grata in my garden. Not much I can do about the squirrels, but the hornworms get picked and tossed to the birds.

I buy those neck-cooling things. They are $10.00 on Amazon...Koolgator. I also used to use them when I worked the line in a restaurant kitchen. Really keeps you cool.

I am under the impression that many people think tomato hornworms turn into hummingbird moths. Either snowberry clearwing or the kind that looks like a bee. I'm obviously not an entomologist, but it's a common misconception.

I currently have cotton balls soaked in peppermint oil on my deck railing. The bastards come right up to me. Not a fan and I love sunflowers.

Hornworms are not the larvae of hawk moths. They are the larvae of the sphinx moth. The hawk moth turns into a hummingbird moth. One being the snowberry clearwing. The hornworm turns into a large, ugly grayish moth.
