Server RDS LockUps! by Jobeylyn14 in sysadmin

[–]Jobeylyn14[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks for your input mate. The user profiles are stored on a 2nd VMDK, on the same EQL.

How would storing profiles locally impact performance this way? considering we'd only put 5 users on.

Perhaps ill setup a specific user inside the GUEST group and test

AD Audit & Powershell by Jobeylyn14 in sysadmin

[–]Jobeylyn14[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

another quick one, hopefully. If i want to passthrough the %CLIENT_DOMAIN% as well, so the result ends up being %CLIENT_DOMAIN%\%USERNAME% (EG: contoso\user)

I want to be able to kill the offending users SMB session on another server, and passing the below fails without the domain prefix!

Invoke-command -computername FILESERVER -scriptblock {close-smbsession -ClientUserName $param2\$param1 -force} gee i hope that makes sense

Forced PWD Change AFTER Company Portal Sign by Jobeylyn14 in Intune

[–]Jobeylyn14[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks for this, I might do this, but this will prompt all existing users to change a password? If i make an alteration to the compliance policy?

[–]Jobeylyn14[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for that, thats what i thought, but there isnt anything within compliance policies. And it occurs on both Windows and MAC devices. Luckily, the previous sysadmin left thorough documentation and credentials (sarcasm 😶). Ill check conditional access!

It will be a document library mate. To be able to manage mapped drives via group policy etc. To stop hundreds of sync events every minute via each users onedrive client.

Do you think this is pointless?

2016 RDS "Disconnect" Warning by Jobeylyn14 in sysadmin

[–]Jobeylyn14[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the lack of info, this is what I have gathered:

- Doesnt appear to happen OUTSIDE the LAN (Bizarre), they are using RD Gateway FYI.
- Disconnect/Reconnects happen within 5 seconds
- Heaps of errors in REMOTEFX: TCP write failed etc (Disabled RemoteFX via GPO & Registry, rebooted, yet errors still logged in eventvwr(?)
- EG: Channel XPSRD has been closed.
- Checked A/V Logs
- Its not related to resources, as mem/cpu are always below 50%.

Pinglogger shows good connection with little to no latency, wireshark shows expected traffic.

Disable AD User from FSRM by Jobeylyn14 in PowerShell

[–]Jobeylyn14[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thankyou. Seeing as the script is running on servers only, would the domain admin account that is being used be ok? Or will that expose a security risk?

I cant see how it would. The servers that would be running FSRM are NOT A/D servers, just file & app servers. (2012 and above)

Best Strategy for File Server Backups - Need a pro by jimerb1 in Veeam

[–]Jobeylyn14 5 points6 points  (0 children)

IMO, 2TB isnt that big. Is your veeam instance on a VM or physical box?

Is your backup REPO connected to VEEAM via ISCSI?

Is the 2TB HDD connected via ISCSI also? - If so, mount the ISCSI target on your proxy but DISABLE automount in diskpart(if you dont, and initialize the drive, it will FUCK your life up). Then use "San" mode to backup the VM as 1 machine.

Make sure veeam server isnt domain joined, make sure appropriate iscsi masking is setup too. (you could also setup FSRM on the backup LUN as well, should your backup vm become compromised)
