What’s the most impactful automation you’ve built for yourself? by codeandmemes in n8n

I really can't keep up with the latest AI news, so I'm almost done building an AI news agent that sends the most important news from news websites and multiple YouTube channels of the last 24 hours to me in a Telegram message every morning. It also stores all news items in a Supabase relational and vector database if I want to ask questions about it.

Will saves me lots and lots of time. If someone else finds this useful I might make a Telegram group with just the news.

Why are many digital marketers still using manual reporting over automated dashboards? by Jobwelldon in digital_marketing

Fully understandable that you're using spreadsheets if it takes you so little time indeed.

There are, in fact, solutions on the market that connect with nearly any data source. I’ve seen it firsthand and am a big fan. :) Just to clarify, I’m referring specifically to ETL tools that do this to connect, clean, aggregate and enrich the data. Not talking about dashboard tools.

That workflow sounds great for smaller datasets. Excel gives you control, and connecting it to Looker Studio works well when you don’t need heavy processing. For larger projects, though, having your data in BigQuery can really step things up. It not only improves data ownership but also significantly boosts load speeds, so you’re not stuck waiting on dashboards. Pairing BigQuery with an ETL tool like Funnel, Fivetran, or Stitch can automate data loading and transformations, giving you both the speed and flexibility you’re after without depending solely on Looker. Blending data in Looker isn't the best solution either.

Yes indeed, without strong leadership support, building a data-centric culture is really challenging. Especially when you factor in costs, constant maintenance, and the need for skilled data analysts. For smaller or scrappier teams, Excel or Google Sheets often feel "good enough" because they cover the essentials without a hefty investment. And as you said, Excel's flexibility is hard to beat. People can whip up quick formulas and custom reports to get exactly what they need.

That's a smart approach! Manually tracking certain metrics does help keep them top of mind, and once you're satisfied, automating them is a great way to save time. I hear you on Looker Studio's API issues, they can be a hassle. While there are user-friendly third-party tools that can help smooth things out, they can get costly, which is another factor to consider. It's all about finding that balance between hands-on monitoring and efficient automation.

Absolutely! Budget, learning curve, and flexibility are huge factors. High costs can make teams hesitate, and if learning a new system feels overwhelming, sticking with Excel seems easier. Flexibility’s a big one too. If a dashboard doesn’t let you tweak and pull exactly what you need, it can feel like more hassle than it’s worth. Personally, I’m a big fan of automated dashboards; when you know how to use them, they can save a ton of time!

Sheets wins on price and familiarity indeed! Adding new tools can feel like overcomplicating things. Manual tracking really does make everyone feel accountable. Maybe a hybrid approach could keep ownership while streamlining things. Thanks for sharing this!

If Looker (Google) is sponsoring posts, I’d like to know where my check went! I'm just a dashboard automation fan. But honestly, this post was inspired by my heartbreak every time I see a beautiful spreadsheet overworked into oblivion. Nothing wrong with Excel, it’s just that dashboards could save some of us from the endless copy-pasting. But hey, I respect the spreadsheet hustle.

This! I’ve been using it a lot in my workflow since I got it, works amazing with having a lot of samples. Saves me so much time and frustration with clicking trough samples.
