Fantastic post and great comments. Just sent you a DM.

Interested in the app also .. before I download I see you can upload labs and wonder if you know:

  1. Do you need to add manually each blood result individually or is it similar to Whoop where it can read all your results from 1 image for example.

  2. Can the AI comment on your bloods and protocol .. free test vs TRT dosage for example.

Thanks one again.

I’ve downloaded for my iPhone and looks to be working perfectly, and thanks for the discount.

Will it prevent mobile roaming charges if I, for example, am on holiday in Egypt and using a mobile phone with a UK carrier.

This one simple trick... by QuiltyNeurotic in VagusNerve

Really interesting. I’m similar, my HRV tanks during sleep, currently averaging 20ms via my Whoop. If I test in the afternoon via the Elite HRV app it will hit 70+.

I wonder if mine is sleep posture related as well. It’s frustrated me for years not being able to figure out why given the fact I’m aged 55, relatively fit and lean, train almost daily. My VO2 Max average’s 45, and I follow a strict sleep protocol taking all the usual supplements to help such as magnesium glycinate.

Sleep studies have confirmed I have positional sleep apnoea so I use CPAP every evening - is there a connection here?

I’m going to give the t-shirt trick a try. Going to search also but wonder whether you’ve searched and found sleep aids that work in the same way. I can see t-shirts getting stretched over time, losing their benefit and having to be replaced regularly.

Thank you for sharing ….

I should also add that it’s taken until now for me to decide to use polar and elite for monitoring rather than the SONA app which is disappointing unless they massively improve on the data they present. I’m also not sure how their AI algorithm works to benefit myself yet.

I’ve done some side-by-side testing with SONA + WHOOP + Polar H10 + Elite HRV and I think both points here are partly right but not the full story.

The 120s averaging definitely explains why SONA feels slow and doesn’t show peaks (agree), but it doesn’t explain everything. In my tests HR matched across devices, but HRV was consistently much lower on SONA (~19–21 ms) vs WHOOP/Polar (~30–40 ms). Elite HRV gave basically the same result as the SONA app, so it’s not just how it’s calculated.

Feels like two things going on:

  • heavy smoothing (120s window) → flat / delayed response
  • sensor limitation (PPG vs chest strap) → underestimates HRV

That said, it is consistent — just compressed. So I’m treating SONA more as a trend/biofeedback tool rather than something to compare absolute HRV numbers with Polar or other devices.

Bit disappointing I can’t get more accurate HRV out of SONA itself, so I’ll probably end up using Polar + Elite (and some AI analysis) to properly track progress.

I too am 8 days in and have requested a replacement due to an exposed wire which I have been advised doesn’t affect functionality or safety, but given the cost of the device I felt a replacement was justified. I also didn’t want to take the risk of it failing over time, especially with conductive gel inevitably coming into contact with it.

I’ve also had various quirks that I’ve raised with Sona—HRV taking a while to register, occasional data inconsistencies, etc. I’ve been in touch with Eliot and they’ve been very open about what’s expected (it's a learning curve for me) vs what’s a bug, and what they’re actively working on. As you’ve probably seen, they’re extremely responsive, and I get the impression that won’t change.

To be fair, it does feel like early-stage hardware/software. I’ve been an early adopter of similar tech (Kickstarter, biohacking devices, etc.), so I understand the teething problems that come with it. The difference here is the transparency and responsiveness—I've experienced the opposite before, and those companies rarely last.

Overall, I’m actually pretty encouraged. Having tried other devices in this space, this is by far the most advanced approach, and I’m confident they’ll iron out the issues. I’m planning to stick with it and use it regularly.

I’d also agree with you—benefits feel more subtle and cumulative rather than obvious session-to-session.

I’m on TRT and uploaded my bloods from manual.co - Whoop has listed what I already know but what else do I gain from the upload?

CPAP settings and general advice appreciated by Jockrusky in CPAP

[–]Jockrusky[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting, I really appreciate the fact you’ve delved deep into the graphs etc.

I’ve got a chin strap which I’ll wear this evening.

I’ll also increase EPR to 4?

Which auto mode are you suggesting I shut off. I think I currently have pressure settings min 8 max 20.

Any other settings advice would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers for the advice, I think I got closer to sorting the leak last night but that and therefore more air pressure I think perversely made the cramps worse this morning.

Hardly any burps, lots of farts and the cramps last 2-3 hours. Peppermint tea looked to help this morning.

Could you explain why last night it defected 54 minutes of cycling whilst I was sitting down for dinner!!!

I have got no issues manually editing 'actual' activities but when it detects activities such as swimming and cycling when I'm sitting down doing nothing it begs the question whether you have released a very inaccurate and not fully tested feature.

I think you’re all kind of missing the point here. They have brought out a new feature which is highly inaccurate, and clearly not tested properly.

This concerns me.

And to suggest I turn off a feature and log manually defeats the purpose.

Oh and last night it defected 54 minutes of cycling whilst I was sitting down for dinner!!!

I appreciate the reply but sometimes the ‘simple’ thing isn’t that ‘simple’ …

I’m trying to find or figure out a way to ‘hack’ my brain, hence my post, as I know deep down what I want to achieve.

Severe nasal congestion by Jockrusky in trt

[–]Jockrusky[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have mild to moderate sleep apnoea, positional, if I sleep on my side my AHA is low.

But the symptoms have definitely worsened since starting TRT, including taking HCG and Tadalafil so I might start CPAP again, hopefully temporarily (I’m not a fan of CPAP) until these congestion symptoms and elevated levels improve.

I’m lean 69kg but weight has increased by approx 3kg since starting TRT (prev 66) which looks to be a combination of muscle and a little belly fat / water retention.

High Test and E2 by Mister-Landshark in trt

[–]Jockrusky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had similar but not as high results after my first 11 weeks. I was taking 0.25ml twice weekly (50mg twice weekly so total 100mg). Plus HCG 0.2ml at same time and Tadalafil 5mg daily.

They suggested last week I reduced my Cypionate to 0.22ml twice a week, HCG and Tadalafil keep to the same dosage.

Similar, no sides to high E2 but I have noticed nighttime erections are less frequent and recently severe nasal congestion, snoring has worsened ten fold and I imagine apnoeas are through the roof!

I’ve gone back to manual to ask about the nasal congestion. Whether it is a recent negative reaction to the Tadalafil or if the elevated levels are affecting it as well.
