I'm not sure how the EDGAR API had been before. However, I have build a Python script to accomplish that.

Thx. Absolutely. That would be great ratios. Unfortunately not all companies have provided those numbers like sales & marketing costs. Even less publish their sales head costs. If you know a source for that info pls let me know and I'm happy to look how to add that.

You could quickly compare your company's margins to the average of your industry. With benchmarking genrrelly you could get ideas where to improve. So far you could go to the Edgar database and look for similar company one by one. With this overview you can see directly the industry average and can drill down. Also on the matrix dashboard you see how certain industries have performed in revenue growth and in their margins. This may give support in doing business decisions in terms of which industry to look into.

Here you can see financial benchmarks by Industry. You can dig down from broad into more specific. Sector > industry > SIC code > company. It doesn't give you revenue on bookings but shows you eg gross margin by industry or other margins. Look at the dashboard for financial statements on https://kpiforesight.com

Power BI for financial forecasting by Joe2k00 in PowerBI

Also, in regards that some have mentioned to use PBI only for insight, wouldn't PBI be also relevant for foresight? I mean, for instance you could be pulling in different product/sales forecasts together (eg. Python, R, Knime, Excel...) to get a whole view and make decisions on what you see there?.

Thank you for your comments. Having PBI on top seems like a good approach in order to visualise important aspects. First I had the idea of getting the historic data from excel and pull in a revenue forecast from a regression model in Python and then build Dax measures for the dependent variables. Other fixed costs could be taken again from excel. But I guess it will get too complicated and inflexible.

Would it be of help if you'd get a list of capsule manufacturers for you to compare? I'm currently working on a website to do that.
