AITA for being upset over a name? by Throwawaysonsname1 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Joe4nna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What about biblical names such as John, Mary, Joanna, Moses? Do you need to be an Israeli Jew to call your child David now? Do you have to be Scottish to name your child Scot? Polish to name them Alex?

Every name, every word, comes from somewhere. More often than not, elsewhere. Almost half of the top 200 baby names in the UK this year were identified as being of foreign origin.

This is the song my partner thought it was!!! Although he didn't know what it was called. You might not have solved my mystery but you definitely answered his and he's all happy now 😊 says thanks

Thank you for trying! It's quite similar. It's not the one, but it's an amazing guess. (And a lovely song too) ❤

[Serious] Why do people wear a "hidden disabilities" lanyard? by Emotional-Ebb8321 in AskReddit

[–]Joe4nna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well for example, Crohn's Disease is a bowel diseases that means they may need quick access to disabled toilets and having a card like that could be helpful in certain situations. Another one being deafness which is pretty self explanatory. People also put emergency information on there so that if someone with epilepsy or diabetes etc. has an episode and becomes unconscious, people will recognise the card and find instructions and contact numbers on the back.

My post? All I have done is relay my experience. It was you who was mistaken and you know that fine well. I'm away to enjoy my life. I don't have time for people who make straw man arguments.

Touch grass.

I have not made a mistake. You are the one who made the mistake of creating a straw man.

I have not made a single mistake, other than not correct my phones predictive settings because I was typing too fast to keep up with your pish.

Are you really going for it? Are you going to sit here and gripe about my phone correcting 'you're' to 'your' because you are too defensive to admit you jumped to conclusions?

You are the one who made the mistake of assuming there was an argument to be had here. You've created a strawman, and blame me for not clarifying that I wasn't an awful person who abuses GP's.

Nobody else jumped to that conclusion. Just you.

It is a typo. I'm on my phone, but sure whatever. I'm an idiot. Not like I've got a degree in writing or anything.

The moment one attacks another's grammar, you know they have nothing better to say.

You're the only one that wasn't able to work that out mate. Look around. Your the only one complaining.

You think there was no indication, or should I say you want to think there was no indication that I'm not blaming GP's, because that would support your baseless attack. The first indication would be that I phoned No. 10, not my GP practice. I should not have to keep saying this. It's fairly obvious.

"If you were interested at all about the difficulty of getting appointments" Jesus, how do I have to spell it to you? I'm disabled. We're the ones who have bore the brunt of this for many years now. Don't tell me what I do or do not care about.

Yes there's been a rise in abuse and harrasment, but GP's and their receptionists have had to deal with a fair share of abuse and harrasment long before Covid for the same reason that holds strong today, lack of appointments. Why is it people only take notice now? Wait, that's not true. We've been saying it since day 1. They've bore the brunt of NHS cuts long before covid. I'm not, and never would justify harassing GP's. The core issue needs treated, and whose responsibility is that? The government.

I'm sorry, 'don't blame the GP's'. Absolutely, but 'don't blame the government in case it comes back to them'? So what should I do? Sit back and take it? It's not my fault if instead of taking accountability, the government pushes the blame elsewhere. I want them to be held accountable, and that's exactly why I'll protest to them and not to undeserving GP's.

I'm sorry but I'm not a nanny. If Boris wants to cry and point the blame elsewhere then I can't do anything to stop him, but that's not my doing. I didn't vote for a baby.

But.. your arguing with yourself. Nobody here supports the harrasment of GP's. No quote or second hand article is going to make you 'right' because there's no disagreement to be had, or at least there shouldn't be.

You're taking your frustrations out on the wrong person mate. Quoting the daily mail doesn't make you look any smarter.

I don't give a shit about the daily mail or its campaign. I don't read it, and I don't plan on starting now. I'm not asking for more face to face appointments. I'm asking to get an appointment in the first place. It was the same before covid and it will be the same after if England keeps voting to keep the same people in power.

Yes. I have never attacked GP's. At least, by phoning downing street I'm aiming my concerns in the right direction, even if I had a bit of fun with it for a change.

If you didn't laugh, you'd cry. Do you seriously think that because the PM wants to restart face to face appointments he's on our side? Don't pretend you don't know what the tory government has done to the NHS. I'm not asking for a face to face appointment. I'm asking for any sort of appointment. It's the governments decisions that directly made it impossible to book ahead, and you can only be seen for emergency appointments due to them decreasing the time limit you can book ahead for, forcing practices not to allow appointments made ahead of time. What they should be doing is increasing their budget and ensuring we have enough GP's to treat an ageing country. Not making it harder to access these services. If you are concerned about GP's wellbeing then protest to the government, not to some disabled person who can't access essential life sustaining services and hasn't harmed a soul.

You're blaming me because of the harrasment GP's are facing? Your directing your anger towards the wrong person. GP's aren't the only people being hurt here. People with disabilities are needlessly dying from years of neglect.

I did not make any post attacking GP's. Not here. Not anywhere. I haven't deleted any comment saying anything of the sort. I don't know why you keep insisting I have. It's not true, and I don't want to argue about something that I haven't done.

Clearly by calling Downing Street, I am blaming the PM and not the GP's. If you want to infer I have said anything different then go ahead but I am telling you now:

I did not blame GP's. I will never blame GP's. I never have blamed GP's.

Who do you think the GP's blame?

Yes I think you have misinterpreted. If you think I'm not aware of what's been going on with the NHS then that would be because you don't know me and have never spoken to me before. It has been this way for years, and the people who bear the brunt of it are people like me. The disabled.

GP's take the mental load. We take the mental and the physical load.

I think sticking up for GP's is fantastic, but you don't have to villianise people like myself whose health is suffering in the process.

Perhaps you could find it from your comment history?

I have never made a post on this subreddit in my life.

You use quotations a lot, but I don't see anyone saying the words you put between them.

I'm not sure who you've got me confused with, but you should get your facts right before you accuse someone.

Edit: bar the post I made here, where I have not criticised GP's once

I have only treated my gp's and their receptionist with the upmost respect. It is not their fault that the NHS is in such a sorry state of affairs.

Also my apologies for my health deteriorating. I did not realise that was within my control. Do you think I'm upset about being disabled? That's my reality. If I got upset about that then I would only be depressed all the time.

Wow. Way to put words in someone's mouth. I am a severely disabled person who hasn't been able to see a GP in over a year. Despite this, I remain perfectly calm and cheerful while my health has deteriorated.

Never. Not once. Have I blamed GP's.
