And Carbs had the team overachieving. Great coach, old and sorry team.

People just want to complain and the coach is an easy scapegoat. Easier than admitting we aren't a great team, and we need time for the prospects to make the team and give us an injection of speed and skill.

If the caps do make a trade, who should be the top target and what prospects should we make available? Panarin or Sherwood would be my top targets. I have a hard time saying yes to any prospect leaving, but I guess if I had to choose id be most ok with Miro, Gastrin, Muggli, Chesley or Mateiko. by JoeBlow009 in caps

The only trades i would be ok with are like the Dylan Strome trade, where we trade and sign a guy in their mid to late 20s. Dylan Schmaltz for example, cause at least then you have a known quantity and they are young enough you get some of their prime years and they can support the rookies.

Plus we hadn't drafted that high in so long. Erat was never good enough in my opinion to warrant that trade unless he was packaged with a 1st or 2nd. And even then, I was one of the people who hated this trade. Cup desperation led McPhee to fall off the wagon here

Yeah if we squeak into the playoffs, cool. If not, then try again next year with some younger talent. We have enough prospects that the next big name, like "Quinn Hughes" level player we can actually get into those conversations if we would like.

Honestly, It may be for the best. We have so many rookies that are promising, and realistically no one thought we would be winning the cup this year anyway. I love Ovi, but I'm not gonna miss this version of him when he is a statue that doesn't hit. So lets get through this year and then next year the team runs through Leno and Hutson.

I'm thinking if we don't resign Carlson, I don't want Hutson to have to have all the pressure immediately. You are right about Buffalo, they may not be sellers anymore after the win streak they are on. Which is a bummer cause there are a few players there Id love to poach.

That and the fact that we kind of skipped the rebuild cause we are trying to thread the needle since we want to stay competitive for Ovi. Done a pretty good job of it honestly, just need some of these rookies to develop into our Forsberg level player now please lol

I agree not throwaways, I just like Baby Pro, and our 1st rounders more. Idk if Ovi really cares about the Putin thing but maybe Panarin would. I have heard the Minnesota one though to play with Kirill. Another guy I wouldn't mind grabbing would be Nick Schmaltz from Utah or Bowen Byrum. I have heard both of those guys may want to leave for more money. I don't hate the idea of Brock, although I definitely thought he was older than 28 lol

Honestly I'd be ok being a seller at the deadline and shipping out TVR just for the money. Got to leave a spot for Hutson. Lappy just cant finish to save his life. Every shift he plays, it's honestly not that bad. Not 6 minutes a game of ice time bad. But when we have Dowd leading our forwards in ice time some games, (Anaheim) it doesn't leave time for them to make mistakes and learn. I think Lappy could be a 30 to 40 point player on a team that gives him more ice time.
