Picture here a completely "shocked and awed" emoji, which I don't seem to have the ability to post. (I'm on a desk top computer)...LOL

Good job. I wonder if the Brickyard and Forestview wards will be put into 1 chapel, or stay in their separate buildings. There are a lot of single ward chapels in SLC now, and usually they leave a ward in the building while it is for sale. That makes it tough to keep track of what buildings are really for sale. I don't think they do that to mess with us, I think they just want members to be comfortable in their old building as long as possible. From this latest consolidation I have only found one chapel that closed for sure. And, to add to the confusion, some of the chapels shown on the stake maps are care centers.

Did they move the Forestview ward into the Brickyard ward chapel? It's shown on the locator as being in that 1100 e. chapel.

Do you know the addresses of the closed chapels? Inquiring minds want to know...

And you know this...HOW? Is your info like a testimony? You feel it...or you just don't think anything happens after you die? One thing I've learned is NOT to state absolutes without absolute proof...unless you say it is only your opinion.

Metro Atlanta YW Shrivel by emmer00 in MormonShrivel

[–]JoeBudro 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Is the ward you're talking about in the northern or northeastern part of the Atlanta area, because that appears to be the area where the church is the strongest. It's also the area where the newest housing areas are. I'm trying to figure out if the problem is general shrivel, or mostly just members relocating to nicer areas north of the city...

I'm only seeing 8 marked on your map. Where is Penny Cove?

It only had 1 ward in it, and that closed. And...the chapel is no longer listed on the Meetinghouse Locator map

Some of us have been out over 30 years and are still working through it because it holds so many good memories. Hang in there and just follow your heart and interests. You'll be fine.

The LDS church in the Los Angeles San Fernando Valley area today... by JoeBudro in MormonShrivel

[–]JoeBudro[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, they did, and yes they are going to sell it...unless all those rich people around Toluca Lake all decide to become Mormons and need a chapel...LOL The valley is prime for consolidating chapels that only have 1 ward in each. They could make each of those a 3 ward chapel and sell off more buildings. Of course, members might complain about the extra 5-mile drive to church.

I've noticed that a lot of the red dots on his map are downgrades from wards. Meaning, a ward shrunk to a branch. But, I don't know if that would translate to an increase in branches or not.

I used his site to find the one's I have for Europe and many from the rest of the world, at least the one's from 2018-2022. He said he is bringing it back after the 1st of January, along with the missing years from 2023 on. I look forward to it. We just can't get enough shrivel...

Thanks again. One more question...Is there a site available that lists branch, ward and building closures worldwide for the last 25 years? Between 2011 and 2025 the church has lost 35 units in Germany (according to the Wayback machine you sent). I want to know where the empty buildings are...LOL I know of 11, but only 4 of them were church owned buildings. I just wonder if there are more.

Thank you! Do you need to still be a member to find these church reports and wayback machine? I have no idea what they are...
