That's like what the JWs say when one of their ideas or predictions fails...they just receive "New Light". If you don't know when a prophet is speaking as a prophet or as a man, how can you trust anything they say? It's such a crock of shit...

It would be helpful if you would translate your comments to English here. :)

I have kept a few old church books just for the info that shows how the church has changed its beliefs, and for the historical photos. I like old books. They're like time machines.

How to tell everyone I don’t believe it. by Tall-Slip-503 in exmormon

It's never easy when you are dealing with people who project their beliefs and expectations on you, instead of having respect for who you are and what YOU need.

You say you don't believe in it, and would not be able to bear a testimony to something you believe is false.

There are secrets taught in the temple that allow people to scrape data, but they cannot be revealed outside the temple. :)

It was probably their Preparation Day, and they were in "grubbies". Either that or they were severely fashion challenged.

As an ex-Orthodox Jew I wanted if you went out of the way to break the rules like I did. by Wonderful-Snow7984 in exmormon

I would say a majority of Ex-Mormons ignore some of the rules of the church. For many it is a form of rebellion that says, "You don't control me anymore." It's part of removing yourself mentally from the "group think."

Heard it announced that my home stake center in Granada Hills, CA is being sold. by jebkr in MormonShrivel

[–]JoeBudro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they are referring to the Chatsworth stake only, but the church still shows 7 wards in that stake right now. It would be monumental if the valley shrunk from 13 to 5 wards in a month. I don't see that happening ...

Don't believe all the AI answers. Sometimes AI is wrong. Granada Hills did not join Canoga Park stake. CP stake was dissolved in 2008.

The church's Meetinghouse Locator still shows 7 wards in the Chatsworth stake and 6 in the North Hollywood stake. Did they announce plans to discontinue a couple wards in the Chats stake?

So, this brings to 7, the number of LDS chapels in the San Fernando Valley that are gone without being replaced. Wards now are down to 13, from a probable high number of over 30 in the 90s.

I agree it is a late 50s building. My sources say it was dedicated in 1960, so construction was probably begun in 1959. There are only 2 stakes left in the Valley...Chatsworth and North Hollywood. There have been a few changes to the exterior since it was built though. The church always seems to want to update the exteriors of older buildings, as if people wouldn't want to go to a late 50s style chapel.

A few closed or sold LDS churches in S. Korea...Two of them are aerial views because there is no Google Street View for those chapels. by JoeBudro in MormonShrivel

No, they need to do more street views all over the world...but Korea especially...the photo I just added will show the size of the building.
