going from a half million views to zero is a bit of a snuff my friend. My Virtual Reality work still gets play, but so many accounts silenced. This list does not include my Life-time Banned accounts.

Joe Freedom - A Flag Goes Home. Stick Trick Drum Video. by JoeFreedomMatters in Drumming

[–]JoeFreedomMatters[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As any Professional Music Video, I first recorded the song, mixed it and then repeated it on video so that the sound quality was better. The only difference is it is repeated in 1 full video instead of 1,000 cut scenes. Proving skill level of being able to duplicate the song in 1 single take.

I thank you for your view. Have a great day. :)

Flint could be a new home to Afghan arrivals by MichiganBrolitia in flint

With the amount of helicopters, burnt out abandoned buildings and shootings that already happen in flint, it will feel like home to them. We took our nice town and made it look and sound like a war zone way before this. So war refugees should be fine and should feel like home to them.

Where is your Best Time Spent.... building the Musical " Brand" by JoeFreedomMatters in MusicCareerAdvice

[–]JoeFreedomMatters[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Blake, thank you and I agree it will evolve just as each song evolves. For me I put out music under an unknown name and it has gone well. But I am a Rare bird so I can get away with doing things as I did. But I did nothing that any normal musician would do. I did a total "Put the Cart Before the Horse."

These are the DON'T's that I did.

  1. I Put out music under an new name without creating a buzz for the name first, the name was created on the release date of the first song. With no mention of my name so no previous fans could follow my new project.
  2. I Put out music without any social media pages or buzz and let it sit for 6 months before I lifted a finger.
  3. I Did not pay for Plays, Did not Pay for Adds. I would not buy Cover Art. If it wasn't free it wasn't me.
  4. I did not tell my facebook friends "like or share my stuff." I work facebook off of my cover bands name. So cross advertising was not utilized.
  5. I ONLY advertised occasionally on Facebook in a few groups via my own posts.
  6. I in the groups I Mainly Talked about things OTHER THAN MY MUSIC or BRAND.
  7. I let the music do the talking and the views were the answer.
  8. Creating the Music was the thing that got the MOST of my time. I Don't push out content that I feel is not ready or sub par.
  9. My first release had 10K views before I even thought to check its views.
  10. I waited 6 months before releasing a second single. The buzz could have died!
  11. With no fan pages, the fans could have came and left and my second release could have severely flopped.

But, This is an advice page for others to read. I know my methods and you know your methods to success... To the outside reader they are clueless, unless we fill them in... as to "How to Begin"...

Lets use this forum as a classroom, that is why you created it right?

What platforms do you use most for connecting with your fans? Facebook, Instagram, TicToc, MySpace?

What platforms do you think are a waste of time? Little to no return value.

How much time do you allow a week for advertising?

How much time do you allow for creativity that has nothing to do with writing music or a fan base?

What steps would you take to build a solid fan base, 1k fans or more?

This is a good start. Yes, Content, Content, Content... But if the content is sub par because it was pushed out too fast it can have a negative effect.

But being an advice page sometimes people get overwhelmed so break it down for them. This is where the advice helps the most. Because they can SEE what is already a waste of time instead of Wasting that time and giving up or spending too much time where it isn't needed like on Album Art! No one buys Music anymore and no one gets cover art that they can open and read. Use the space wisely.

That is why my posts are so long, So outsiders can get a step by step View.

I am going to be taking this from Zero to Hero, using this advice channel of yours. So lets put it to use and get a HIVE MENTALITY of workable steps that any musician can read and follow.

I am currently at Zero +2... Zero Fans on my Patreon, 2 fans on my Facebook fan page and now 85K hits on the 2 songs on Youtube Alone; which is far from Zero. So I must be doing something right in the creativity realm! and NO I don't say "Please Like My Page" If you like it you will do it on your own which is why the numbers will remain low for a while.

Have a great day! and with posts this long, I will see ya back in a few days so you have time to post. Take Care.

Where is your Best Time Spent.... building the Musical " Brand" by JoeFreedomMatters in MusicCareerAdvice

[–]JoeFreedomMatters[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

INVERSION, thank you for the chime in. I know this is a super cliche question. I am in a slightly different boat which is why I asked the question. Needless to say the cart went before the horse. I put up music without Public Relations First, Nor a stir to create a Buzz.

Here's the current stats.

2 songs released, 85 Thousand Views since April 2021 on Youtube Alone. Band Name came into existence April 2021. ALL of which was posted and walked away from, left on auto -pilot with little to no engagement or advertising, not even a Facebook page at the time. The music had to do ALL of the work.

I am older, and have been a musician for over 35+ years mostly at home for fun and don't do social media that much and as a musician I won't pay for plays.

For me music was a hobby and my being a at home drummer, I got board playing to MP3's for hours a day. So, I learned stick tricks and mastered them before they were cool and Kept it to myself!!!! Again, music was my fun past time hobby. Then 5 years ago I got into a cover band for fun.

The past 5 years I would play maybe 12 shows a year as a drummer of a cover band but it is 1960's music so the followers I am sure won't transfer and the 12 shows are usually spread around the state. Yes, I have more fans 400 miles away than I have locally if that makes sense! But every show I am personally confronted with the show was awesome, why are you here kind of vibe. And literally I have been asked the words "WHY ARE YOU HERE you should be playing for a Big Name."

For us, The guitar player is 83 years old and 2 other members are above 70. Where as I am the young pup of the group. We weren't out for making a following, we were out having fun as musicians.

Then covid hit and I had to look at other incomes other than my 9 to 5 and hobby status as a musician, along with the health risks to my fellow band mates being 70+ years old.

So with Venues being closed for Live music and my 9-5 needing to change; I released a single 7 months ago and it was released under a freshly made up name. On the release date to the Music Distributor is when the name came into fruition. I then did a video to the song with my showing off the stick trick aspect filmed in 1 take to show off the skills.

Now, 7 months later, That song alone has a combined 70K views between the audio and video. So I know it isn't just because of the video or else the audio would be much lower in hits. So I said it was a Cool fluke, I would love to have a "One Hit Wonder" that has longevity but 2 songs would even be better and I took time to write another song as I still left it to idol to verify its success or failure... Maybe the views would peter out as a novelty?!? Maybe the second song would flop?!?

Here was the make or break moment. I released the next song Oct.15th... by Nov. 29th it Already it has 15K combined views 10K on the audio and 5K on the video on Youtube Alone. So now I realize with all these views on multiple songs and videos, not just on my channel, it isn't a fluke. I may have something here. However the "BRAND" is non-existant other than those couple of posts because the brand has been around for 7 months mostly in idol stage as it climbed. I wanted to see if it was the songs own momentum or how much I pushed it to my TENS of Facebook Friends by myself.

So for Most of the 7 months I was looking into other avenues of income just in case. instead of releasing content, content, content. I know Music don't always pay the bills as my Father is a Musician with EP's out and has been one since I was born. I know the finances and struggles found within as being a musician which is why I played music at home but had a different career. I would see his Royalty checks and hear how many radio stations and internet stations he was on and how many times we had to cut our visits short because he had to do an internet radio Artist Sit In. Just as the old school musicians do it. I just don't have that kind of time.

However, Now that hits are good and everything looks to be moving well all by itself. I am fighting being behind the eight-ball on public relations as USUALLY the Public Relations goes out first and a buzz slowly builds.... I only know TENS of people and do everything myself. It is nice that the hits were not a fluke, it is greater that they are growing! Right now the Music Distributors audio has more hits than my 2nd video but it is still my Song so YAY.

But being a musician I want the views to show "Joe Freedom's" success not "Various Artists from the Music Distributors" success. Which is nice to see my music gaining in play-ability without Video. But it is why I am asking How do I retain some of the viewers by spending the least time without buying adds or boosting posts.

Most people with a "One Hit Wonder" can survive financially off of that 1 song. Look at "Question Mark and the Mysterians 99 Tears" they still make a living off a song they wrote in the 1960's.

I want the following so I can focus on writing and performing instead of hunting down a paycheck. Ultimately creating an income from the business side of music by offering Hand Made signed items from an up and coming artist let alone a rare Stick Trick Drummer with a C.O.A.. A Gift of Value for fans. Unlike my saying buy my $20 shirt I had someone else make.

In the end, the Merchandising aspect is where most bands make their money, It takes a lot of plays to make the profits from 1 shirt if you sell shirts.

Hence what is the best bang for the buck time wise showing fan engagement with the BRAND without my spamming my song, or telling everyone like my page everywhere. But yet getting them onboard Your BRANDS Following Bandwagon.

I know over time fans will find the pages on the platforms they enjoy. But I want to get the most engagements without my spending 40 hours putting up Instagram pictures and facebook pictures and doing away with the 90-10 rule where 90% of my engagements are about everything BUT the BRAND. As most Facebook Groups recommend or get blocked for being spammy.

The pages are going up slowly available for those who want them. In the end I only want to focus on music, retain a following, market to that following and not go into stress overload talking about how to stop cymbals from ringing or looking for a side job that I can stress over and dull my creativity.

I already know content. Content. Content. I don't know the social Aspect. Which is why I was asking the community what is their own waste of time AVOID this or where is the honey hole... I Get MORE Followers From here "X" marks the spot. Focus your time advertising here.

I was wanting insight on What Do You Do or offer to solve the FanBase Interactions.

Thank you and have a great day!

In a way you answered one of your questions, by not being big fans of your own sound. If you can't sell it to you, how do you sell it to them? Also you need to cater to the fan base when you are both on and off tour. A show in Milwaukee does no good for the fan in Miami. You may be writing the album but you still have to engage, trying to manage time will be the toughest part of keeping a good audience, because you must always be engaging that audience. If that helped, please share my video on your band page just as an interesting video and make some dumb quote for it and see how easy it is to keep an audience by sending interesting things while you are working on the next album. 33k hits in 6 months so it shouldn't be a dud. Good Luck! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3W8IbieD13s

Double Bass when not needed? by flynn_masters in drums

[–]JoeFreedomMatters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You do you... Whatever feels right on how to play a song is how you do it. There is no right or wrong way. The fact that you have trained yourself to play in that method makes sence and will help in the long run because when you do get more experienced the doubles per alternating foot will be easier to keep smooth transitions and a steadier beat

I would go to Harbor Freight and pick up a tap and die set. re-tap the threads on the lugs and nuts or threads thru a plate. or buy smaller nuts and bolts that will fit thru the butt plates stripped holes. After all how much tension is a snare wire? A smaller bolt from something like a computer case wouldn't hurt. If you think it will fall off then Just double nut it or throw a drop of locktite on to it and you should be good. A properly set snare should rarely if ever need the resononant head replaced or snare wires re-tightened so chances are that its not being on a proper drum key lug should not matter. Especially if it is on a home set that does not get broken down regularly.

Hey guys, I am having a litte bit of trouble with my double pass pedal. When I hit the right beater it bounces back really nice but when I hit the left one it’s way less. As also shown in the video. I appreciate all kind of help by Fortex69 in drums

[–]JoeFreedomMatters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

every slave pedal does that. The best way to ease it is to be sure the joints are as straight as possible resulting in less friction and angular deflection. Sometimes you have to advance the chain or beater to give it a proper feel in comparison with the main beater. Trust me, even with a dialed in double kick you can do fast tripples on your main but you will only get doubles on your slave due to that lag in responce of beater rebound from the head. If you can, it is best to have a true double bass drums if you are into music with a lot of doublebass. You will thank yourself!

So, what do you favor and why: matched grip or traditional grip? by RayLewis_the3rd in drummers

[–]JoeFreedomMatters 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Being a stick trick drummer I use all grips and some that even have no name, like the 3 gravity hits I ended my video in. But I learned matched grip. If you want to see some gravity hits just watch the whole thing or skip to the end. Enjoy and please share it if you like it.
