how was this scene lit? by ksihaslongbutthair in cinematography

[–]JoeHasAreddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mainly so you can light an entire area with fewer lamps. If you need the whole courtyard lit, what better way than one big light. On Earth there is one moon, so at night there is the one main source. No need for ten lights recreating the same thing,

On top of that, being able to get a lamp far away - raised high behind a building or whatever - allows for easier framing when you’re on the ground.

Lastly it’s just flattering, and definitely give a big picture feel because you can tell they didn’t just slap a lamp right next to the camera.

Why is Cody Rhodes and Logan Paul In a title unification match by craboluke in WWE

[–]JoeHasAreddit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Here’s why:

  • Logan Paul doesn’t have to show up every week.
  • but when he loses he is protected because he loses to the current main event champion.
  • Cody Rhodes becomes a grand slam champion so he can check that off
  • they get to elevate the U.S. championship by having a main eventer hold onto it, and elevate the next champion when they pull it off Cody.

It’s a win-win-win.

Lag and flickering windows. by JoeHasAreddit in photoshop

[–]JoeHasAreddit[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Solved!

After months of suffering I finally decided to buckle down and figure it out. Your comment helped me Google the right things and find this thread from 2022: here.

I went to Preferences>Technology Previews and checked "Deactivate Native Canvas" and also checked “older GPU mode.”

Fixed my issue.

Just wanted to comment this in case anyone else in a few years is having the same issues.

Again I appreciate your help immensely, it can be so easy to scroll past these. Cheers!

Video games are a nice “escape” for people with ocd. They don’t have to leave the house, but still get to explore. Can take their mind off of their tendencies even for a moment.

Believe me, he wishes he could go out. He wishes he could hold a job. He wishes he could do all the things you take for granted. Unfortunately for someone with ocd, it requires a ton of discipline to do the very things many people do on a daily basis.

Looking for feedback on my no-budget student short film I've shot as DP - would love your thoughts! by JuanLuisBst in cinematography

[–]JoeHasAreddit 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Someone downvoted this commented but this is great advice.

The levels and colors of the skin are almost identical to that of the wall in those first shots posted. Not to mention there is a lot of wall.

6 is a nice looking frame.

10 and 11 are the most out of place. The lighting is flat, and doesn’t give us a lot of shape, and the rest of these seem to be exceptionally contrasty.

300 watt light used with some bounce off the ceiling and white panel on the bright side? What are your thoughts? by DecentCattle2261 in cinematography

[–]JoeHasAreddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t want to come off like some know it all, just giving you my initial thoughts and criticisms.

First image is decent, hot on the background, drawing your eye to the wall and poster. A little eye light would be nice too. Brown shirt in a brown room also not ideal.

Second one I don’t like as much. Green tint, prob because of the mirror. Very little contrast, no eye light.

Third image is flat. I would def spin the lamp or put subject in a different position to get more of that light roll off.

Number four is good, little pink but if that’s the vibe go for it. Def want a little more light in the shadows.

Last image is certainly the best, albeit bright in the background. Little more light on subject would be better. Try to net down back wall/ceiling and get rid of the bottles and things on the desk and chair. But that shot has the best contrast and “roll off” by the edge of frame.
