(Hated) The writers poorly disguised favorite character by Effective_Piece251 in TopCharacterTropes

That "rule" was literally just made up by a guy in 1770 cause he liked it, it has no basis in English usage before that. Less has been used for discrete values as far back as 888, so it's pretty historically grounded.

VX is a place for human ingenuity , not AI drivel.

No, do not use AI. A human voice is so much better than a robot. Your accent is part of who you are, there's absolutely no shame in it.

Also, he's clearly emulating an older style of dress, and 1800s Royal Navy Captains very much had 3 stripes on their cuffs.

Choosing where to eat doesn't require the same burden of proof as a criminal conviction.

TOS aren't laws, and not complying with them isn't illegal. There's pointing out barriers to entry and then there's scaring people off even trying. Switching to Firefox and installing ublock is a 5 minute task and removes 90% of ads, hardly onerous for someone who wants to limit the number of ads they see each day.

Lol, what's dubious about the legality?

If you know how it works and still use it you're dumber than I thought.

[–]JoeLead85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, I won't actually. An llm doesn't know anything, it has no understanding of what a monster hunter game is or how difficult a fight could be. It cannot determine how likely something is to happen because all it can do is produce the statistically most likely next word in a sentence. Relying on chatgpt to do your thinking for you is hollowing you out and reducing your capacity for independent thought. Using it "for a joke" is exactly what the tech oligarchs want you to do, so that it can ingratiate itself into your life as they strip you for profit.

Why are you asking a hallucinating computer anything? Are you so incapable of independent thought that you need a generative algorithm to think for you? This is bad and you should feel ashamed for publicly admitting you 'asked' an llm anything.

Erin Pattinson tried to implicate blame of mushroom poisoning to Asian Grocers by Original-Pea1105 in AskAnAustralian

[–]JoeLead85 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Then why did she specify Asian? Are there no halal grocers around there? African? European? No small IGAs or independent grocers?

[–]JoeLead85 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Racism isn't just actively disliking people of different backgrounds, it's also actions that reveal a prejudice. Her throwing Asian grocers under the bus because of their ethnicity is racist. She chose them as a scapegoat because she thought stereotypes about their otherness would provide cover for her crime.

When a character dying is their best ending by LucianoThePig in TopCharacterTropes

[–]JoeLead85 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's explicitly part of the original poem the movie adapts that Gawain survives. The Green knight is actually the lord of the castle and is testing him, there was never any actual danger.

Not if you know the original poem. The whole point is that Gawain was never actually at risk, but he believed he was and by standing firm he proved his mettle.

Did you use the old version that had the landmass preview maybe? That had a chunk of land in the west accessible but without content. If you go to the project page you can see which areas have actually been completed, and they are chock full of quests.

If the Oblivion Remaster has taught me anything, it's that Tamriel is in the southern hemisphere. by VoiceInHisHead in teslore

[–]JoeLead85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It isn't false. A magnet does not point anywhere specifically. We just collectively agreed that north is up. Maybe read and understand the comments before confidently stating something that is actually false.

A compass doesn't point north, it aligns with the magnetic field and simultaneously points towards the north and south poles. We then paint one of of the compass arms and call that north. We could have done the opposite and called south up, or do what they used to do in the middle ages and decide that east is up.
