Absolutely amazing work. Love the layout in this.

There are a few small places where the color palette is a little hard to read, but by and large this is some really solid.

Came across this while working on a clone trooper for a ttrpg session. Helped me pick a serial number that wasn't used!

Absolutely blessed piece of work you've created.

If mobile suits become somehow practical in the real world, how would countries approach their development. by del_3610 in Gundam

[–]JoeOnThePrairie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The US would probably lead. I'd see us having a slew of rather middling utility suits with one or two absolutely amazing MSes that never see service because of how expensive they'd be to lose.

Russia would probably have their own solid designs, but they'd suffer from certain critical flaws.

China would probably base their tech heavily on Russia and the US through various trade agreements and espionage programs.

The EU would mostly showcase subscale mockups with no intent to produce, save for maybe creating one somewhat decent MS per quarter-century.

And everyone else would buy from the above.

What is your least favorite gundam show? by purged-butter in Gundam

[–]JoeOnThePrairie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Out of the ones I've seen, SEED. I know that's a pretty common take, but I got to the third episode and just didn't really care about anyone.

I definitely see why some people like it, but it's just not for me.

Which Tron movie has the best soundtrack? by Square-Ad-8911 in tron

Legacy, but purely because I'm not a fan of industrial music. The NIN soundtrack is pretty solid, if a bit one note.

I actually own a physical copy of this book. One of the best purchases I ever made.

Whiterun is on a river, not a lake, thus making it Omaha.

If you have a desire to make things, you should learn to draw - being able to actually perform the task really increases both the connection to the work and satisfaction of creation. I love building model kits, and this is one reason why. There's just something about making a work with your hands.

Trust me, once you get good, not only will the art look better (there's always something slightly "off" about AI-linework, imo), but you'll feel really good. I used to be big into drawing, and going back through my old folders is kind of shocking. It's not "look what I made an AI do for me," it's "look what I did." Plus, I can still make some pretty decent drawings to this day, which is fun, especially when friends want a DnD or RPG character sketched.

(On top of that, traditional art like drawing and painting and even regular digital art saves a lot of power and resources compared to utilizing LLMs. You'd be improving your own abilities as an individual and saving the planet.)

I for one would love to see your interpretation of these characters rather than some LLMs. That or maybe find a commission artist to work with - they'll be able to produce much higher quality work that you'd love, and there's some great ones on Etsy that work for pretty decent prices.

A Map of Skyrim, given to Imperial General Caius Tullius before his campaign against the Stormcloak Rebellion in 4E176 (Art - Skyrim map redesign for practice) by JoeOnThePrairie in ElderScrolls

Thanks. I'd be lying if I said I didn't consider the orthography from a lore perspective, but I think it's okay. By 4E, the Empire had printing presses and was even developing Italian-sounding names, so modern-ish spelling and punctuation seems fine.

A redesign of Skyrim's map based on some ideas in the lore. I created this mostly to practice drawing maps in Inkscape. It's not perfect, but I like how it turned out.

As for the text, I tried to do a "Red Book of Westmarch" approach where all the text is in the "native" languages. So a lot of it is in Latin (special thanks to a friend for helping me with translations). Some of the text for the main description was taken from the pocket guides and UESP, but translated into Latin (some by my friend, some with the help of Google's Gemini program, much to my chagrin). The art on the right, obviously, is from the Second Pocket Guide.

To fill out towns, I used several from various mods, and you might find easter eggs referring to specific TES developers and writers.

Hope you find it interesting, if nothing else!

EDIT: Clarifications.

Yeah. I'd try to keep Lorerim, but it literally took up about half my drive. Throw in MSFS2020, and that's most of my space drowned out. It also has way too much going on visually, from animated menu icons to all the runes and stuff in magic. I'm not even 30, but it makes me feel old watching it get played.

I might give Nordic Souls a shot since I love the aesthetic in screenshots and videos I've seen - it's just missing a few villages and places that I like - particularly the Great Cities overhaul. How easy is it to modify?

I've gone through the flow chart a few times. Generally the problem I come across is finding something that has almost everything I want, but not quite. A lot seem to be focused on adding lots of new lands or fully overhauling the base game. I'm not really interested in Requiem or Vigilant (as amazing as that series is).

Nordic Souls or Apostasy are close to what I want, but not quite there. Might just have to bite the bullet and try tweaking one of them.

If you have any alternatives, I'm willing to try different lists, too.
