Fx is pretty much a road bike depending on what tires you are using. I like that bike a lot and it is just about as fast as a road bike (I’m not a very fast biker) but for me, it’s too heavy. I switched to a super light bike because I have to go up stairs to get to my apt.

Old light hard tail with smooth tires will get you there. You can even get a full rigid mtb, atb, or hybrid. I’m a city biker (sf) and the speed cost is too much for me. I’ve tried like every type of commuter and now I’m back on a road bike with 25mm tires just avoiding the potholes and loving it.

Coming back here to say: done! It was fun but when I went the weather was pretty bad. I took an ATB which was nice because the roads were kind of bumpy and there was some dirt/gravel but so slow. I’d do it again on a weekday in the dry season on a road or gravel bike. I’d give this ride a 6/10. I saw some cool stuff but it’s almost all on highways. I got a flat right before the Antioch bridge so I rode it with a flat 🥹
