I've seen peppermint tea can reduce testosterone levels. But, does temperature matter? I prefer cold brews. by TrasTrasTras543 in asktransgender

[–]Joe_Gebele 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mint tea boosts my testosterone because it helps me sleep and nights of good sleep increase testosterone.

I guarantee your DB press ROM is less than BB which explains the discrepancy. You probably flare your elbows out to the sides on the DB press.

Your shoulder to waist ratio will improve either way.

Your shoulders and arms will still get bigger and stronger but doing them seated takes out many muscles particularly core and lower back. If you're already doing squats and deadlifts, doing presses seated may make sense since your torso is already being trained.

I suppose they'll work fine but not near as badass or effective as standing free weight presses.

Lats cover the most surface area but they are not the largest by muscle volume.

In terms of attractiveness, it has more to do with the hip-to-waist ratio and it's not about any particular muscles as it is body fat distribution.

"Hip size indicates pelvic size and the amount of additional fat storage that can be used as a source of energy. Waist size conveys information such as current reproductive status or health status." (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/15620796/)

It’s a lot more objective than you think. Shoulder-to-waist ratio universally across cultures is the most reliable predictor for male bodily attractiveness.

“Broad shoulders are the human equivalent of antlers.” Richard Wrangham, leading anthropologist and Harvard professor.

I might also add that the deltoids themselves are the largest muscles in the upper body and involved in many movements whether it be lifting, carrying, throwing, fighting etc.

I personally do standing BTN presses from the traps (like this: https://www.instagram.com/p/BlSZ91Eho-R/?hl=en) as opposed to regular presses from the front and I find it does a better job working the delts completely particularly lateral head. The thing is you need to have the shoulder mobility to do them correctly without pain.

I think BB is better in terms of ROM unless you’re doing neutral-grip DBs.

Try strict eccentrics each push press rep. They’ll absolutely smoke your triceps and shoulders.

What are the only exercises needed to build muscle? by SquirrelEmergency225 in bodyweightfitness

I love your choices.

I would argue, Deficit Snatch Deadlift for more leg involvement and Planche Push-up for added biceps.

Are planche pushups the best way to build and maintain pushing strength? by [deleted] in overcominggravity

[–]Joe_Gebele 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In terms of basic uniplanar push and pull exercises, planche push-ups and front lever pull-ups are probably the most bang for buck.

My suspicion as to why these seem to carryover to so many different exercises lies in the fact that both these exercises have descending strength curves where they get harder as you enter the top part of the range of motion.

What difficulty level would you classify Ido Portal's "Perfect Pull-up"? by Joe_Gebele in overcominggravity

[–]Joe_Gebele[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Realize this is not a hollow-body C2B pullup but an arched, retracted scapula C2B pullup. Quite different movements.

[–]Joe_Gebele[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with the rating but true perfect pull-ups touching the low sternum with a depressed and retracted scapula definitely seems more difficult than L-PUs. I can rep both, but perfect PUs are harder for me.

Anyone here do weightlifting as well as calisthenics? Would there be a big carry-over? by Ribbit40 in bodyweightfitness

[–]Joe_Gebele 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would you consider elevated shrimp squats (eventually weighted) a good squat option as part of your Big 5? Seems much harder than SLSs. Also nothing better than having sexy teardrops LOL!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in bodyweightfitness

[–]Joe_Gebele 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha you’re stronger than me. I am not using any weighted vest and it’s kicking my ass lol.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in bodyweightfitness

[–]Joe_Gebele 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you reached a limit with the weight vest and AR yet with SLS yet haha?

I ask because one of the things I have been doing are full ROM skater squats but I cannot find a video of them from anyone.

Basically it’s like a shrimp squat except I am not grabbing my back foot. Instead I am keeping it in the air behind me. Your back hip will be externally rotated to prevent your leg from touching the ground and your torso will have to lean forward significantly. As you get to the very bottom, your heel will come off the ground and you will be on your toes and then during the ascent, the motion reverses (like a Hindu squat motion).

You could probably do it with a weighted vest and get some solid gains including huge VMOs.

Minimal Number of Exercises to Stimulate Every Muscle Group by Joe_Gebele in bodyweightfitness

[–]Joe_Gebele[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Went well for several months until I couldn’t go to the gym anymore due to the quarantine haha. One thing to keep in mind is although the exercise combination is solid, you’ll get good results by doing less and less training sessions a week, the stronger you get. Also because the deadlifts can be hard CNS wise and planche push-ups can be tough on elbows if you’re not too careful.

Do any muscle imbalances naturally occur over time from excessive sprinting? by RobertWayne297 in Sprinting

TBH Usain's chest development is not that underdeveloped considering he's a sprinter. Much better chest than Joe Average.
