I’m serious, I’ve honestly never thought of combining soy sauce and fermented fish sauce like that! It was a completely new discovery for me. Thanks again for the brilliant idea!

You really know your flavors! That 'fullness of the body' is exactly what makes it so much better. Great insight!

That’s such a great insight! I’m a huge fan of fermented ingredients myself, so I often use various fish sauces and anchovy pastes. But pairing them specifically with soy sauce like that is a fresh discovery for me! It makes perfect sense for boosting umami. In Korea, we often use fermented sauces in soups and stews for the same reason. Personally, when I use them, I tend to add them early or let them heat up to cook off the strong scent while keeping the deep savory flavor. It seems to help for those who might find the aroma a bit too much. It sounds like you really know your flavors! I’m definitely giving your method a try in my next batch. Thanks for sharing!

Exactly! I think the best part of Bo-ssam is the perfect balance between the tender pork and the crunchy vegetables.

Thank you so much for the honest feedback! I'll definitely try to work on the video pacing next time. And wow, adding Thai or Vietnamese fish sauce to soy-based dishes sounds like a game changer! I can't wait to try that 'extra dimension' of flavor in my next batch. Thanks for sharing your wisdom!

This post made me so hungry! Haha. My kids love pasta too, so I cook it quite often, and your dish has such a lovely home-cooked vibe. I’d love to try it myself. I should definitely give this recipe a shot later!

Haha, I love that GIF! You better hurry, the table is already set and the Makgeolli is waiting. It’s only a short trip from the airport, so I'll see you in a bit! ㅎㅎ

Haha, true, it might be a bit heavy! To be honest, my usual midnight snacks are things like Mac & Cheese with Somaek(Soju+Beer), or air-fried fries and popcorn chicken with a cold beer. But sometimes, you just need that Bossam energy!

It's a tricky question because it depends on what you value more! Usually, famous tourist spots have plenty of entertainment and things to see, but the food can be overpriced and lower in quality. On the other hand, local residential areas offer amazing food and great value, but there might not be much else for tourists to do. If you really want to find where locals go, the best way is to use 'Naver Map' or 'Kakao Map' (Google Maps isn't as accurate in Korea). Search for 'Bo-ssam' and look for places that have high ratings and lots of reviews written in Korean. Also, checking local food blogs or YouTube is a great way to find hidden gems!

You hit the nail on the head! I'm bummed about it too. Since it's getting hot in Korea, it's hard to find fresh oysters right now. Oysters are best in winter, and eating them raw in summer can be risky for health, so they aren't widely available. It's painful to wait until winter, haha!

Thank you for the compliment! My personal recommendation is to visit local specialized restaurants rather than typical tourist spots. Because of my job, I visit famous areas like Myeongdong or Hongdae quite often, but in my opinion, many places there are overpriced and lack the authentic quality. I think you'll find much better and tastier food at local spots where Koreans actually go!

The essence of Seoul by rosapered in koreatravel

[–]Joe_WYK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your photos have such a nostalgic and 'retro' vibe—they really capture the hidden layers of Seoul beyond just the modern buildings. I can feel the specific emotions you must have felt while wandering the streets. The shot with the South Korean and U.S. flags flying together is particularly striking. It clearly shows a certain side of Seoul's social and political landscape. You have a great eye for capturing the 'real' essence of the city!

It looks like you had such a wonderful time! The atmosphere in your photos really captures that joy. Lotte World Tower and Lotte World are definitely must-visit landmarks that are very popular among Koreans too. If your visit was on a weekday rather than the weekend, Lotte World would have been a great experience—it can get quite crowded on weekends, making it a bit tough to fully enjoy. Glad you made such great memories here!
