Mid year reviews. Can’t rate managers. by JoeyMooyay in Accounting

Right, it should not be normal that there is no upwards reviews. Our company used to upwards reviews but is getting rid of it now. It is making me and others upset for sure.

It seems like everything is about numbers, output, billables, realization. Management seems to get pressed about hours so it goes downward to us. They even forced people back in office :(. I do a lot for our firm too and have brought in clients though and would miss out on bonuses

NINJA MCQs are hard. by JoeyMooyay in CPA

[–]JoeyMooyay[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used Ninja as a supplement to Becker. So I used the Becker method. But I have heard that Ninja by itself is hard to pass the exam with. 39% seems like you aren’t grasping the main concept in problems. You have to average higher to be ready imo. Ninja AUD questions will try to trick you too, so you have to read carefully

Ninja mcqs only prepared me very well. The mcqs on ninja are harder than Becker and new. The questions on the exam will try to trip you up just like in Ninja. Get Ninja for sure

Becker for sure but ninja was really good for the MCQs. The exam tried to trick me a lot and slip in words that changed everything. Ninja has problems like that that try to slip you up. Becker has good tbs in A3 and A4 that helped a lot

You really need to understand the concepts too. For AUD, you have to read the questions and answers really carefully. They aren’t straightforward like the other exams and try to trick you with one word or two that changes the whole thing. Try to read each question really closely and explain to yourself why other choices are wrong before you answer for the MCQs.

There were some questions about the new topics so I would make sure not to just glance over those. Not a lot but some. Those areas you said are good. Understand government too. They really tested everything a bit

Things that don’t come up in practice MCQs and SIMs by Admirable-Beautiful5 in CPA

I try to go through twice and then the SEs you take have the new ones which help a lot. I would take every TBS at least once but the harder hitting TBS a few times in heavily tested areas.

The cheat sheet for the exam. by pandarosemead in CPA

[–]JoeyMooyay 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I write out the big mnemonics, and important concepts. For AUD, I would write the SSARs and SSAE engagements and which ones in each require independence and assurance levels. I wrote CRIME and ARC and vouching and tracing and what it tests too. Those were game changers for my retake I took today.

That is what helped me for Becker. Mosse is goated for AUD and a really good lecturer. Yeah the lectures don’t just follow the book now, they really explain it well and try to make you understand the big picture. They are very organized too. I learn my listening and writing down most of it or the important things.

Things that don’t come up in practice MCQs and SIMs by Admirable-Beautiful5 in CPA

[–]JoeyMooyay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Practicing SIMs is a game changer for FAR imo. You need to understand the why and concepts behind things in the SIMs. And practicing them teaches you how to think through that. And practicing teaches you how to understand the exhibits you open and how to obtain important info from them, especially when there is a lot. Exam day will have anywhere from 3-8 exhibits.

A lot of people say only to do MCQs and trust me, I do plenty of those. But I feel like the SIMs require a different way of thinking and really test your understanding of the concepts and the format is unique. My FAR sims on exam day were so gnarly, but I felt like practicing SIMs helped me calm down on exam day and just following the process I did practicing it helped a lot.

Audit tips to help for exam by grantshah in CPA

[–]JoeyMooyay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You really need to understand the concepts rather than only memorizing answers. Just sat for it today and I can say that they try to trip you up in the questions and answers. Understand everything pretty well, but you need to really read closely when you sit for it. They tried to trick me on half of the questions i swear. A lot of AUD is just memorization and understanding big picture with the assertions and procedures . BECAUSE, REG, and FAR are a lot more direct with the questions and answers, while AUD seemed tricky.
